The Democrats went from the party of free speech and due process to the party of censorship, kangaroo courts, and weaponized prosecution. They used the justice system to go after a former president. They cheered when Trump got indicted. They called anyone who questioned the process a “threat to democracy.” And Dershowitz — a man who has spent his entire career defending the Constitution — watched all of this and realized he was standing in a party that no longer believed in any of it.

And they believe that if they have power now, they will have it forever because they know they can take democracy away and rig elections. That's one thing that has always irked them about Trump. In 2016 Hillary was annointed by the corrupt powers that be. There was no way she could lose and democrats would be in power forever. When Trump won, it was a bad taste in their mouth they just couldn't shake off. They had that election rigged and also an insurance policy just in case the unthinkable happened and Trump won. They could still take Trump out with the Russian collusion hoax. If that didn't work every single entity under their control could mercilessly go after Trump with nonstop lawfare. Since Trump has beaten everything they have thrown at him, and even profitted off of it, that bad taste in their mouth just won't go away. It has literally driven them completely insane.

Edit: One more thing. Democrats in 2016 reminded me of the fact that nothing bothers a cheater more than losing after they cheated and that is exactly what happened in 2016. Democrats cheated every way they could so that Hillary could win and they were astounded that after all that cheating, they lost. That's why they just can't stomach Trump. Cheaters can't stand it when they lose.
