Republicans introduce Pro-COVID Bill

How do you explain that NJ and NY had the highest number of Covid 19 deaths???

How?

Because we are the epicenter for international travel. Cases came in from Europe and they spread in the NY metropolitan area. The learning curve on how to fight COVID was invented in NY, NJ and Connecticut.

While we fought and suffered, States like Florida, Georgia, Texas and Arizona laughed it off and said watch how we can beat COVID by opening up.

We have flattened the curve and those states which could have avoided serious infection are feeling it’s wrath

In ways large and small, the bill is designed to herd people back to work. It slashes unemployment benefits. It gives companies liability protections, so they don’t have to worry about lawsuits if they want to call back staff. It includes a new round of small-business subsidies that are mostly designed for outfits that stay open, whether or not it’s a good idea for public health. It encourages more people to eat out (and more restaurants to open their dining rooms) by letting companies fully expense business meals.
If you disagree so much, maybe you should do your part in fighting Covid 19 by staying locked in your house, refusing to go shopping, and not ordering anything online...

After all, if you buy ANYTHING, YOU are FORCING people to work during the middle of a pandemic!!!

I live in NJ
That strategy is working. We had the worst infection rate and were among the first to order stay at home and masks

Rather than succumb to the temptation to open up prematurely, much is still closed and we are slowly opening up

We have flattened the curve while those states who listened to Trump and rushed to open up are seeing a massive relapse
Come on! The EPA has declared North Jersey land as dead. The next ice age will be needed to purify it.
No idea what you are talking about
We are the Garden State

Good thing for you that Trump limited travel from China (the epicenter for the disease). It no doubt helped limit the number of cases you had to deal with. Of course, my reply is based on YOUR basic assumption that this virus is any more deadly than any other virus we have had to deal with.

You guys keep saying that.....it is all you got

HOW did Trump limiting travel from China save us from COVID?
We had 15 cases when Trump cut off travel, we now have 4 million

WTF did Trump save us from?

Everything you need to keep the virus going strong
Force Schools and Businesses to open

Would you still have this opinion if you didn't retire from your cushy government contract work?
I doubt it.
You can’t have one without the other

You can’t pretend COVID no longer exists and go to business as usual. As Florida, Georgia, Texas and Arizona demonstrated.....as soon as you lift your foot off the brakes, the virus comes back with a vengeance

Despite its name, the HEALS Act largely aims to help businesses reopen and nudge people back to work, whether or not we have successfully curtailed the coronavirus’s spread. We’re still in the middle of a pandemic, and the GOP appears to have embraced the most hackneyed definition of insanity—doing the same thing over again, and hoping for different results—as its governing philosophy.
I'm not sure where you've gotten the idea that we're going to be able to just stop this virus.

Luckily, it's got significantly less than a 1 percent mortality rate so long as our hospitals don't get overrun. If that starts happening, you'll find the more skeptical of us far more willing to entertain reintroducing targeted lockdown measures to flatten the curve. Implying that there's some end-all solution just over the horizon is pie-in-the-sky thinking and shouldn't be the basis for our planning.
In the absence of a cure, all we have is social distancing, masks and shutting down high risk activities

This bill does everything it can to force open opportunities to spread the virus
What if there is never a cure or a vaccine that works? We shut down 4ever?

Thank God and Trump it is not more.

No just until the election. After Trump is elected it will revert to impeachment again unless we vote the rest of the leftist Democrat vermin out.

You're right in that all we have are basic distancing measures. Where you're potentially wrong is if you're implying that the goal with which we should be implementing these measures is to stop the virus cold. In the absence of a highly improbable viral vaccine or humanity's first viral cure in short order, acting with the assumption that we can just weather this temporarily and expect it to go away is magical thinking. The people pushing the idea of shutting down until Covid can be stopped in its tracks are suggesting that we play chicken with the economy and just blindly expect the equivalent of a medical miracle to happen before we create a massive global starvation event. That is orders of magnitude more reckless than anything Trump has suggested in even his wildest off-the-hip press conference proclamations.

It grew from 15 to 4 million under Trump

How did his China ban prevent anything?

We have the largest number of infections in the world and the most deaths.....how did Trumps ban stop that?
That statement is ignorant on many levels or intentionally misleading. You left out death counts, left out the fact that in 'the world' there are many more cases. Also, you ignore the fact that reporting around the world is wildly inaccurate. But I get it, you'll leave out facts and twist results because of your on going TDS.

So you are for keeping people in poverty until they are starving and the country implodes.

Got it. This is why Republicans are better than you.
Everybody knows that’s how this troll has always thought that.
