In my red Southern state, the more successful people are generally Republican. White collar workers and business owners are overwhemingly Republican in my state.
People that live in large urban areas often mistakenly believe that the mentality in their city is the prevailing mentality of the country and that somehow they are more enlightened/intelligent than those of us that choose not to live in large cities. Salaries even for the same and even less specialized jobs are higher in large cities to account for the much higher cost of living, which skews the average salaries for many Democrats vs Republicans, though despite this, Republicans still average higher wages. For example, the same engineer could earn on average 35% to 85% more in NYC than in my area. If the engineer was born and raised in NYC, he is more likely to be a Democrat. If he was born and raised in MS, for example, more likely to be a Republican. Same guy, same intelligence, same level of success, but the Democrat engineer raises the average salary among Democrats. The thing is, and I know I am diverging from the topic, the engineer in MS would still likely have a better standard of living(nicer home, nicer car, more spending money, etc.) due to the higher cost of living in NYC, which is why my area is influxes with engineers and other white collar professionals. It is also the reason that since COVID and the work from home craze that people from large cities(many Democrats) are moving to my state because they can still get their higher salary and live in a much safer and cleaner place for much less money. My only hope is they wake up as to exactly WHY they left.(Democratic policies)
