Also, the US govt seems to benefit large multi-nationals and not local businesses.

My view on welfare is that it should be a safety net for those that need it. Young people don't need it as much.

If you haven't worked five years, you should not get any unemployment benefits.

If you've worked 5-10 years, you should get X amount.

If you've worked 10-15 you should get X+Y amount. Etc

If you've not worked 5 years and you're struggling, then you should go back into some kind of education. Depending on circumstance the government could pay for that, based on success. If you flunk, you don't get money.
