It isn't the Social Security that is out of control, it is th inflation that is out of control. One way to control it is with rent control to keep rent reasonable, & help renters & business owners & stockholders) Why are we allowing all of America's $$$$$ to be funneled into the pockets of one small group (landlords)
Blame local city governments who don't allow affordable single-family housing to be developed. They want McMansions that pay hefty property taxes and that don't attract low-income scum.

I see zero effort to limit rent increases, or even any talk about it. A few years ago a 1 bdrm apt was common at about $700/month.
Now ? $2000-$3000/month and still skyrocketing.
My company raised rents to meet the market. Right now we have five vacant apartments that are losing $5800/month or $69,000/yr. in rental income. This is in a market that boasts 96 percent occupancy rate city-wide. We have priced ourselves out the market as have many other companies.

I have an upstairs apartment that I use to rent to students. I got sick and tired of cleaning and showing it to students every year. I no longer rent it out. It's not worth the trouble to me.
