Republican or Democrat: Express your OUTRAGE about this >>

HA HA HA.
So you think landlords renting 1 bdrm apartments at 3, 4, or even 5 times what they were just 4 years ago, "need" (your word not mine) that much money to operate ?

Interested in a bridge in Brooklyn ?

Like I said, this isn't a discussion about reasonable rent increases, OK ?

Considering the losses they took over the past 5 years due to eviction freezes, as well as other inflationary costs, yes.

You think they just have pure profit, which is simply not true.

It isn't the Social Security that is out of control, it is th inflation that is out of control. One way to control it is with rent control to keep rent reasonable, & help renters & business owners & stockholders) Why are we allowing all of America's $$$$$ to be funneled into the pockets of one small group (landlords)
You are still seeing the effects of the democrat illegal alien importation program. It is no surprise that flooding the country with millions of illegals caused housing demand, thus pricing, to spike.

You're talking about older properties that are 70-80 years old, I'm talking about investments in new properties being built now. Rent controls are gonna suppress new properties.
Once many millions of illegal aliens are gotten rid of, there won't be a need for new housing.

I think they've got you smoked.

1. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

2. Even if that eventually happens, I think the need for new housing will still be a problem.

It's already happening, and growing on a J curve.

Nope, I'm just not someone looking for people to give me stuff at a loss for themselves.
Dude, I'm trying not to be uncivil here, but if you think that rents going from $700/month to well over $2,000/month in just 4 years, is landlords trying to cover costs, then you've got a problem.

I'm not that either. What I'm looking for is what the topic of this thread is. The unbalance of a 2.8% inflation yardstick (for Social Security COLA), with a 10-15% actual inflation.

And I wish people would stop yammering about whatever they feel like talking about, and just stick to that simple TOPIC.

What market is that?

I've always called it COLAMA.
Cost Of Living Adjustment, My Ass.
It never covers the rate of inflation. It's just a fact of life.
Right now, ir doesn't even come close. Is this how detached from everyday living reality, those in the government are ?

Today I received a Social Security COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) notification. My yearly Social Security DD (direct deposit) just went up an incredible, pitiful $31/month (2.8%) This is at time when the whole country knows that housing rents (112 Million renters in America) have been skyrocketing.

So my rent goes up (not so long go) $108/month (10%) & to cover for that my SS increases $31. (2.8%)
Last year was abut the same > $104/month & $34/mo.

Well, I have also a VA pension, smaller than the Social Security, but every little bit helps. So what did my VA pension go up ? Believe this or not folks, it went up a whopping 7 CENTS/month.
With 210 apartments here and most of us on Social Security, everybody has been talking (or yelling) about this insulting, disgusting COLA "increase". Nobody cares about Jeffery Epstein, or who went to his goofball island 30 years ago.

I am sick and tired of hearing from all the intellectuals and all their charts & studies, telling us inflation is at 3%, when we see 10% increases in rent EVERY YEAR (most expensive constantly ongoing expense), and many people are seeing even bigger/worse increases.

Hey dudes, I don't know about you, but when I see my rent jump $108 month, that's how much I want to see my Social Security jump, and not a dime less. Is the media covering THIS ?
While I thank you for your service to this country, to have based your entire expected retirement income on two government programs was not the wisest choice in your life.

How much more do you want all of us current taxpayers to have to fork over for TOUR benefits. Especially knowing that we will likely never see a dime of our own Social Security money back?

IMHO, those in gov't care less about the reality of everyday living than they do about their chances of getting re-elected as individuals and as a political party. Each side points fingers at the other, but seemingly very few have clean hands and consciences about this.
