Since McConnell pulled his shit in 2016 it's a brand new game. This is what happens when republicans make the government work in new and interesting ways for partisan gain.
Look who's talking, DEMOCRATS asked Ginsburg to resign in an effort to RIG the seat e.g. let Obama fill it with a younger liberal while he had the votes to cram it through. YOU PEOPLE are in no position to preach to us so STFU.
Thr fact that most republicans don't care how they look right now is the prime reason they need to be voted out.
You are deflecting. FACT: Dems have repeatedly flipped flopped when it suited them and attempted to RIG the SCOTUS. Now you pay the price. Obama and Biden argued vacant seats should be filled even in an election year even if there are only months until the election. Now you are screwed.

I love it when the Dem's scheming blows up in their face. :auiqs.jpg:
Don't try to make the democrats in the wrong here. McConnell did this shit with an amoral kind of ruthlessness that is an affront to everything this country was founded on. It was done right in front of our faces. No need for justification anymore.
What Mitch did has been done several times in the past.

Grow up.
Democrats are currently being dissolved by their own stomach acid it's a thing of beauty.
Their collective meltdown has started................can't wait for the confirmation vote. That's gonna be a hoot.
If the situation were reversed, Democrats would just proceed with confirming a leftist and there would be no controversy in the media at all. They would be totally behind it.

Democrats think we are stupid, but they are the stupid

Lets remember when conservative justice Scalia died Obama and the Dems threw a conniption fit when the GOP wouldn't let Obama fill that seat with a liberal. Now they pay the price, we are only doing what Dems advocated so hard should be done, fill the seat. Dems don't have a leg to stand on.
Well, yes. And remember before that they said they were entitled to anyone they wanted when John Paul Stevens died because he was a leftist. They claimed that replacing him with a leftist ideologue was fair to preserve the balance of the court.

Then when the Republicans tried to claim the same with Scalia, Democrats just ignored it and nominated a leftist.

Democrats are just liars
Dem's never reciprocate, something many gutless bunch of GOP hacks can't get through their thick skulls. Democrats are dishonest to the core. We broker a deal and Dems have every intention of breaking it the first chance they get. How do you even work with a party that's so dishonest?
Republicans are like Charlie Brown and the Democrats are Lucy pulling the football away every time.

When Democrats invented filibustering judicial nominees and administration appointments under W, dumb fuck Republicans were like we'll want that! We'll want that! Lots of us were like, dumb asses, they will CHANGE THE RULES. But they didn't listen. And under Obama, Democrats CHANGED THE RULES just like we said to stop it.

All that happened in the end was Democrats got filibustering judges and administration appointments under W. Republicans got nothing.

When John Paul Stevens died, Democrats said they get any hard core leftist they want to "preserve the balance." They got what they wanted. When Scalia died and Republicans reminded them of that, Democrats yawned and gave us hard left Garland.

That is how ALL deals with Democrats end up. Caving here will give Republicans absolutely nothing. If they could just not be so stupid for once.
Here's where it gets interesting...why Republicans have allowed Dems to repeatedly screw them over...it's the Republicans FEAR of the liberal news media attacking them. Dems and their lowlife scum pals in the liberal news media have used the power of the press to intimidate and silence Republicans. Then...president Trump DESTROYED decades of carefully crafted Dem intimidation and PC silencing and THAT'S why Democrats hate Trump like no other. Another 4 year Trump term and there's no going back.

Why didn’t you post this thread in 2016?
Interesting factoid. Obama did nominate someone to the SCOTUS in 2016. No one stopped him from doing that. Didn't know that, huh?
Merrick Garland
Exactly. Thank you. You lied, Obama made a SCOTUS nomination. You lied and said he wasn't allowed to do that. He was allowed, and he did make a nomination. Please stick to truth and stop lying. Thanks
He was not allowed to fill a seat during his legal term as President.

Republicans did not say Garland is an unacceptable choice, McConnell said......We will not allow you to fill a vacancy during an election year.

Now, it seems, McConnell is saying election year has nothing to do with it. He is saying you are not allowed to fill a seat while an opposition party holds the Senate

Everyone knew the whiners, Pelosi, Schumer and Warren were going to scream about this. Hell, they scream about everything. And now they're coming up with absurd solutions. Impeachment, lawsuits and unleashing their always dependable media allies to spin for them. You can always depend on Democrats to act like immature little assholes who can't accept facts. What they're doing would be like Republicans insisting on a do over with Bush's Roberts pick. MAGA

Obama had no Constitutional authority to "fill a seat." He had a Constitutional power to nominate someone, he did.

The Senate had the power of advice and consent. They said no.

You haven't named a single thing yet that anyone was denied. So? Who was denied what Constitutional power? No one

You're still whining the lie that the president "fills" a SCOTUS seat. No, the president nominates someone.

In all cases, no one filled a seat unless they were nominated by the president and approved by the senate. No one got something the other party didn't get. Fail.

And again, you're claiming that Biden in 92 meant when he said he would not hold hearings on an HW nominee that he wouldn't have confirmed a Democrat nominee. You're seriously claiming that? No, you keep hiding from the question because we both know one thing, that you're full of shit

Sitting on the fence topic

President Donald Trump's impact on the U.S. court system was cemented on Wednesday after his 200th judicial appointment was confirmed by the Senate.

The Senate confirmed Cory Wilson, a state court judge in Mississippi, to serve on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in a 52-48 vote.

So I must ask why aren't any judges appointed this year not as important as this one judicial seat?

But but but Dems own Ginsburg's seat they should get to fill it :206: :206: :206: :aargh::aargh::aargh:
but but the voters should decide..
They did. Voters elected Trump, and gave the Senate to the Republicans.

"Elections have consequences"-Barry Hussein Obama.
Democrats have hit a brick wall in delaying filling the seat. Naturally Pelosi threw a fit and has threatened the President with impeachment if he dares nominate someone. :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo:

On top of that, we have had 3 confirmations after the sitting President lost the election.

So all the bedwetting by Dimwingers in Congress, and on this board, is nothing more than a diversion from reality. Suck it up Buttercups, Trump is appointing a replacement for Ginsberg.

Sen. Ted Cruz: After Ginsburg -- 3 reasons why Senate must confirm her successor before Election Day

Second, twenty-nine times in our nation’s history we’ve seen a Supreme Court vacancy in an election year or before an inauguration and in every instance, the president proceeded with a nomination.

Nine presidents, including George Washington, Woodrow Wilson, William Taft, and Herbert Hoover, faced with whether to fill a Supreme Court vacancy in an election year, did so before Election Day when their party held the majority in the Senate.

And on nineteen different occasions up to 1968, the president sought to fill a Supreme Court vacancy while his own party controlled the Senate. Nine out of the ten nominations made before Election Day were successfully confirmed, while eight out of the nine nominations made after Election Day were also successfully confirmed.

Three presidents, who had already lost the presidential election, have filled lame-duck Supreme Court vacancies.

Right on.

Democratic Party pulled their shit in 2009 to get an unprecedented number of liberal scumbags to the federal bench. I hope Republican Party nominates someone as far to the right as possible and push them through in 72 hours.
