Rep. Paul Ryan gives finger to veterans--confirms he is a progressive snake!

.

House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan drafted a plan with Patty Murray which would cut veterans benefits. He now Doubles Down on Cutting Veteran Pensions

What Paul Ryan intentionally refuses to acknowledge is, of the defined and limited powers granted to our federal government by our Constitution which are intended to promote the general welfare of the United States, one just happens to be its power over our nation’s military. Unlike the countless federal government free-cheese programs not authorized by our Constitution and which work to balloon our annual federal deficits, providing for our nation’s veterans is a legitimate and constitutionally based obligation.

Ryan’s “reforms” ought to begin with a twenty percent cut of every social welfare program which is not within the defined and limited powers granted to our federal government. To not do so is to advance the pinko progressive agenda which has made our productive members of society tax slaves to those enjoying the ride on Obama’s free-cheese wagon.

Only a progressive snake who ignores the intentions and beliefs under which our Constitution was adopted would agree to cut veterans benefits, especially when our nation’s veterans have not only put their lives on the line for our country, but millions have become disabled in the process.

Let us work to remove this progressive snake from office this coming election and replace him with one who not only supports our nation’s military, but will work to end free government cheese which is destroying our country from within.

Reaching across the aisle and bipartisanship is Washington Newspeak to subvert the Constitution and screw the American People.

A politician who cuts spending is generally called a "conservative," not a "progressive."

Hope that lesson in Political Science 101 helped you.

You opinion is noted, especially your absurd reference to political science 101 in which you fail to take into account being obedient to our Constitution is a fundamental hallmark of one who works to conserve our constitutionally limited system of government.

Unless he cuts where the OP doesn't want cuts.

And just what is it that I want cut? Is it not federal spending on welfare programs which are not authorized by our Constitution? How dare there are those among us who are sick and tired of being made tax slaves of those who ride in Obama's free cheese wagon.

The Constitution says nothing about COLA adjustments. Nor does it say military spending always must rise.

I hope this lesson in Political Science 101 helped.

Hey folks, its gonna take hard decisions to fix this fiscal mess.

Bottom line is this, and it may be uncomfortable: All government employees raised their hands, and said "I want to work for taxpayer money", and accepted all the perks of government work.

Well......We The Taxpayer are broke. We can no longer afford sweetheart 20 year retirement, full benefits for life for a whole family, guaranteed raises and promotions. The real world doesn't work like that.

A true conservative knows a business mind is NOT emotional or sentimental. Cold, hard choices must be made. Welfare and food stamps must be cut. Medicare stuff too. And sorry, but yes, time for us to cut the military spending down to a level the taxpayer can live with. Its a business decision.

Good for Paul. Get emotion out of it. We cant afford this anymore.
Great idea. Let;s get rid of all those government workers that are being paid taxpayers hard earned money. Let's shut down the FAA. After all the airlines will service their planes in a timely manner. Then we shut down the Park Service. Who needs national parks? They are just a waste. Then let's shutdown the FDA. The drug companies can be trusted to put out safe products and think of the money saved not checking food being shipped into this country. Oh, and as for the military, they should be the first one to have their pensions taken from them. After all, THEY WERE PAID WHILE THEY WERE ON THE JOB. THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT MONEY AWAY TO PREPARE FOR THEIR RETIREMENT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. And so on with ALL the government agencies.
Then when hundreds of thousands of people find themselves on the streets with no money, no health care, no food, no shelter, and no chance for a job they can die and decrease the surplus population. The important thing is not the people who work for the government or the work they perform, IT IS THE BOTTOM LINE!
(Did I get it right? Have I captured the spirit of your post?)

No. You have emotional sarcasm in that, and that's not my stance.

My stance is this: When it comes to people who work for tax money, you must deal with them with NO emotion or sentiment.

We are broke, Taxed Enough Already. That's the fact.

We must cut, and cut a lot. That goes for all government employees, AND those living off welfare handouts.

Does it suck? Yes. The welfare queen is gonna have to get less, the Navy SEAL is gonna have to get less, the DMV worker will get less, the "disabled" construction worker will get less.

Its tax money, not a scholarship. No emotion, no sentiment. Just balance the tax money. That's all.

If they don't like that compensation, quit the job you volunteered for. Others will step up and take it.

except for the simple fact that contracts were already made to veterans. You give us 20, we take care of you & yours for life. Those are called broken promises & violation of contracts. What Paul Ryan did was absurd and a stab in the back to all military veterans. With the democrats who went with it, we already knew they never had ours, so it wasn't shocking.

Our people are our number 1 weapon system. Not the nukes, not stealth, not drones, etc. Our people. It was as true back in Patton's time as it is now.

Employee unions have contracts too. The auto industry workers had contracts. Detroit city employees had contracts. Fiscal trouble mandated those contracts be broken. Same for the military. The taxpayer is broke. Fact is, they work for tax money, and we cant afford it.

In modern society, NO PERSON working for the government should get a 20 year retirement with lifetime benefits for them and their whole family.

Think about it. Start at age 18. RETIRE at age 38, with lifetime pay/benefits for the entire family?

We the Taxpayer cannot afford that. Its one of MANY hard cuts that are gonna have to be made. No emotion. No sentiment. Just numbers folks. Work for tax money, you have to accept the pain when tax money runs out. Sorry.

johnwk and the other far right RINOs are running around in circles.

Anyone who is a conservative agrees, or else they're libtards in denial.

Its simple math. We have this much tax money to give (A). Those who work for tax money want this much (B).

A is < than B.

Period.

Which means EVERYONE in group B must take a loss. Congressmen. DMV workers. SEALS. Marines. Welfare queens. Retirees. Ditch diggers. They all consume tax money, and We The Taxpayer don't have anymore.

No emotion. No sentimentality. Just math.

Besides, they all say they don't do it for the money anyway. If they are telling the truth, then taking a cut wont affect them much anyway.

No real conservative believes that. We start with cutting DOD by 50% in ten years. We cut all tax favors to business, big and small. We SS taxes in the SS fund only. We begin public works programs for those on assistance.

We think and act smart.

Im ok with cutting DoD/military 50% in ten years. Some treat it as a sacred cow. But, take the emotion and sentiment out. Its more government employees. They are subject to cuts as tax dollars require like everyone else.

A "tax favor" to business is different. Its not a government TAKING money. Its allowing a company to NOT PAY a tax. That Im ok with. It helps business. Im ok with government telling a business they don't have to pay full taxes. Hell, make that lower rate the rate for ALL business.

But, all the people living their lives off tax money taken from us? No. No matter who it is, they are living off tax money, and they must accept whatever shortage comes now.

It is the Military Officers Association of America MOAA that do not support veterans.
They represent a small % of retired military retirees as only 15% of serving military retire with a pension.
If MOAA really cared about the overwhelming majority of men and women that serve in the military they would scrap the archaic and outmoded dinosaur current retirement system in favor of a 401K type system for all that serve.
And amazing the ignorance of the public in this but give them a break as the MOAA propaganda is misleading.
Only those that retire with 20 years in their 40s and 50s working age will get the 1% cut of COLA adjustments. And the massive increases in COLA over the last 10 years when most years there was no inflation more than makes up for that. And at age 62 their pension is readjusted to reflect all the COLA increases over that time.
These days people live longer. The current system is a dinosaur and needs to go. For too long the officer's associations have ruled the roost looking down on the enlisted men and women that ALSO serve.

Besides, they all say they don't do it for the money anyway. If they are telling the truth, then taking a cut wont affect them much anyway.

you never served a day in uniform nor know anyone who does do you? I bet you don't know that our young soldiers & airmen qualify for food stamps. So yeah, cuts affect them in a big way...

DoD has already taken its pound of flesh & then some. It has had the largest cuts in the US Government already to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. I will agree there needs to be reform in spending, but we have done our part. Time to weed out entitlements....

Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution: "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense...".

"To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the disciplineprescribed by Congress;"

These are Constitutional duties, not some frivolous expenditures of public money. You want to save money, how about we cut the following Departments/Services (as a starter): EPA, Education, Interior, National Park Service, Obama Phones, etc. I would gut all Congressional perks and benefits. I would do all this & more before violating the promises made to those who given back the most to this country. I normally don't argue on emotion, but in this case, I recognize what is truly important.

And as always the far left only wants to make deep cuts in the military which it's funding is supported by the constitution.

This bill was based on fiscal conservatism offered by a Republican that has a history of EVERY bill he proposes there are fiscally sound cuts in it.
And like I said this is really not a cut but just a PR ploy by the MOAA who could care less about the enlisted men and women that serve.

Just today they stated that we will be scrapping the 1 million a piece special vehicles that were over produced because of the massive amount of them sitting idle here in the states.
Cheaper to just scrap them in Afghanistan than bring them home but if there was a real need for them instead of having thousands of new ones sitting idle here they would bring them home.
Dad was a Bird Colonel USMC, brother a Nam WAR DADDY 66-68, Uncle Bill flew bomber missions over Germany; we are a military family.
This is a good bill. Sad the MOAA posts false information and incredible the naive would call this a "liberal" bill.
This is as a conservative bill as there ever could be.
