Rep. Massie Debates Iran War Powers Resolution

The growing number of people who are sick and tired of the lies.

Indeed!... I'm sick and tired of petulant Democrats lies, lawfare, fear mongering, pearl clutching and holding America hostage everytime they don't get their way.

The amount of sheer effort Trump is putting into alienating America from the rest of the free world is pretty remarkable.

The war is spreading, and our former friends and former allies in Europe are now having to act to protect themselves over a war that they had absolutely NO ROLE in starting. This, on top of his insane and constantly changing tariffs, his threats, intimidation, mockery, insults and trolling.

Maybe he really HAS been convinced to trigger Armageddon. This is just inexplicable.

War powers are very specific in the US constitution. But our politicians now days, on both sides, don't seem to care about the constitution. Or the things that are supposed to keep us a Constitutional Republic instead of a democracy or anything else.

Here, Massie lines out the president constitutional authority to wage war. And congress's responsibility to give the president authorization.

There are 3 constitutional conditions in the 1973 war powers act that must me met. And so far, none have been met. And yet Trump (and other presidents) have been allowed to wage war just because they want to.

Trump doesn't like the idea of the USA being Constitutional Republic anymore than the democrats did.

There's some very important information in Massie's speech, pertaining to the constitution.

He meets all requirements for this action to be legal.

1973 war powers Act

Since the War Powers Act, we’re dramatically poorer as a nation, off the gold standard and $39 T in debt.
I'm reminded of a relevant quote...

“It is no coincidence that the century of total war coincided with the century of central banking.” - Ron Paul

Aside...

He is correct in his view that there is about 50 billion taxpayer dollars a year that needs to get blown up and replaced in order for that segment of the market to stay healthy for those invested in it. Congress critters in particular. Because that's exactly what's going on and has been for some time.

That's why we read so many arguments in favor of the stock market rather than the shit being blown up in constant rotation that taxpayers are put on the hook for at the barrel of a government gun.

He's one of the most principled people in Congress
...but is he effective at his job? He gets headlines by going against the grain, but is he effective at passing bills and forwarding conservative policies? No, he is fuckin terrible at doing that part of the job. What good are his priciples if he never accomplishes anything useful?

One of the saddest things I've ever read. "Discard all promises and principles just so you can say you accomplished something".

Article 1, section 8
To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;
This is not a declared war, this is a short military action that most likely will be done within 60 days.
Did Jefferson declare war on the Musselman pirates, or did he just send U.S.
Marines to go kill them?
I'm thinking it's the latter. :rolleyes-41:

On what constitutional authority, dingbat?
And wtf do you think multiple bombing raids, and assassination of a countries leader is?
A necessary military action that really can't depend on herd-of-cats Congress's approval or else it will definitely fail.
Sometimes you do what you gotta do. :dunno:
Law or not.

Did you read the freaking link? THEY CANT DELEGATE THEIR LEGISLATIVE POWER AWAY
You people dont give a damn about rules, laws or the constitution. Just your stupid ******* political party.
You guys are pathetic.
Take your case up with The Supreme Court about the WPA. :dunno:

Can you imagine if Congress would been required to declare war before the invasion of Panama?
Congress would still be discussing the why's and wherefores today..
Yeah, it might have stopped many interventions, invasions and war. Could have saved a lot of lives, our wealth, popularity etc.

I understand, but here's the question:
Do you really want the military actions of our country and the wellbeing of The People at the mercy of most of the 535 self-serving dipshits (just like fukn Massie or worse) before anything can be done about assholes trying to invade and kill us here and abroad? They can't even vote to secure our elections,
what kind of Representative Republic are we in when all the people want that, and the Congress doesn't do it?

If someone invades us, there is no need for a declaration of war.

Okay, how about a foreign embassy of ours? That's as good as native soil, right? :rolleyes-41:
Gee, what happened in 1979? Hmm?
