Rep. Massie Debates Iran War Powers Resolution

From an election year strategy standpoint, a War Powers Act vote would be the worst thing for us. There are probably enough Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans to pass something but what? And then what happens?

Suppose they pass a law that says in whatever words that Trump has to stop doing what he's doing with Iran. Then what? All the troops come home to parades and there is a wave of support for more Democrats in Congress? No, because no troops will come home. They don't want to come home. They want to be in the military pursuing their profession - as many of us used to do. it's a volunteer military, right? Trump will stop bombing but keep forces where they are and maybe move more in to keep the Iranians from taking over the whole area.

Of course the Iranians will attack the non-firing forces and our allies. That's what they do, and Trump getting spanked by congress will embolden them. Who gets blamed? Democrats. Worse Iran gets a nuke and Democrats get blamed. Or Trump's intelligence agencies just claim Iran has a nuke and Democrats gets blamed. It will be believable once the Iranians start attacking.

The other alternative would be enough Democrats voting with Republicans for a UMF that it passes. Some of them have already signaled that they would. Then what have we gained? Only Trumpers gain if that happens. They cackle and we have the egg on our face.

Ending this war would be the best thing. Trump is sending GOP congressmen into a midterm with $4 gas. Over a war that we know is BS. (IE that whole "Iran is just months or weeks away from a nuke... For the last 40 years).

Also following the constitution is always best.

I could care less if the R or D's get the majority, because there's not much difference in the two. One sides brings problems down on us. The other side brings different problems down on us. The same old back n forth that's been going on longer than I've been a live.

Trump should've just stuck with his MAGA and America 1st promises. Instead he's flip flopped on about 80% of them.

I notice that you "not Democrats" love to criticize Trump for predicted future actions and predicted future results rather than what he has already done or is doing.

The midterms are almost 6 months away. Plenty of time for Trump to firm up a peace deal and then gas prices will plummet.

With Biden, he did not have a single policy that pushed his gas prices above $5, but a set of anti-fossil fuel and economy-killing measures that pushed prices up.

Of course if all else fails, Trump can just sell off the SPR, which he could not be criticized for since Biden did the same.

Let us know when Trump or the Reps in Congress don't follow the Constitution. Oh, also if Dems don't follow it, since you are "not a Democrat."

Lie. All of Trump's actions have been designed to be what is best for America.

Or do you believe a nuclear armed Iran is best for America?
