Remember “No Tax on Overtime”?

Yes, which as we already established is 20x smarter then yours
No, that's you, like your dear leader, thinks he is a "genius" but is actually, dumber than a stump.

How are they paying more when the overtime portion of their pay is now tax-exempt, when in previous years they had to pay tax on it?

You sure are desperate to hide how Trump’s tax bill saves the working class money.

Let's say someone make's $20 per hour and earns $10 of overtime pay for an hour. And assume a 20% income tax

For $20 for staight time you get: ($20 * 20% Income Tax) + ($20 * 6.2% FICA Tax) = $5.24 in taxes.

For $20 for staight time and $10 overtime pay you get: ($20 * 20% Income Tax) + ($30 * 6.2% FICA Tax) = $7.86 in taxes.

So more taxes are paid when Overtime Pay is earned.

The tax rates didn't change but the person still pays more in taxas as FICA applies to Overtime Pay. The new law only exempts to income tax portion of Overtime, not FICA.

I don’t believe that’s the question he was asking the question was are you paying less, then if OT was taxed

And the answer is yes

Actually they are paying more. But it's a numbers thing.

Let’s run some numbers and show how Trump is saving the working class money with no tax on overtime:

Income $60,000 ($50,000 regular and $10,000 overtime)

  • when overtime is excluded, federal tax due $2672
  • when overtime is taxed, federal tax due is $5072

Trump has cut the tax liability IN HALF for someone earning $60,000, with $10,000 of that overtime.

The question was "taxes" not limited to "income taxes".

Also I understand that a number of States are not willing to apply the Overtime Pay Excemption to State Income Taxes. Meaning the additional overtime pay will still be required to be paid to the states.

And the left hates that hard working Americans are going to be able to keep more of their hard earned money

Americans keeping more of their money, means they have more opportunity, more opportunities means more freedom…more freedom undermines the policies of the left

Well, duh. What a pretzel you’re twisting into to try to hide from the voters that Trump is saving them a ton of money in federal taxes.

OF COURSE if someone earns more, he’ll pay more. That isn’t the question. The question is: will a person pay LESS when overtime isn’t taxed than if it were, and obviously the answer is yes.

You leftists are desperate to try to fool the working man into not seeing that Trump is saving them money on federal taxes - and as much as half!

Really, what you’re doing is shameful. The janitor will have his federal taxes bill cut in half (assuming $50,000 straight and $10,000 (OT), thanks to Trump. And you’re trying to fool him into thinking otherwise so he’ll vote for the Socialist Dem who will take more of his money to hand out to welfare leeches. Shame on you.

Because your LYING retarded dear leader SAID so.

/——/ Why am I arguing with you anyway? democRATs hate tax cuts. You should be peeing your pants with joy.

BTW
Yes, overtime pay is generally subject to the same taxes as regular wages, including federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare taxes. However, under the new "No Tax on Overtime" provision, eligible workers can deduct a portion of their overtime pay from their taxable income for tax years 2025 through 2028.

He’s being intentionally obtuse because he doesn’t want to admit trumps actually helping the working class, not just talking about it

If you are a janitor in a the USA Today you are taking home more pay today, because of Trump and the gop

The question was if more taxes would be paid.

The answer is yes.

As I said in a previous post, it's a numbers thing.

You are attempting to change the question to "would more have been paid", which is a different question.

The Left is afraid of the truth getting out. They’d never win another election.

Not sure how more taxes are paid when we aren’t taxing the OT Pay

Shhhhhhh…..World Watcher doesn’t want them knowing that. He wants them to think that if a portion of their earnings is now exempt, whereas previously it was all taxable, somehow that means they’ll pay more.

Maybe, maybe not.

If your employer caps you at 40 hours (assuming FT employement), you aren't seen any change.

And if the employer has a mixture of PT an FT janitors and surges the PT people into extra hours, the FT janitor isn't seeing more.
