His encouragement as the attack was going down, and his text say "Make no mistake we did this" and his lieutenants question "what do we now", his reply being "Do it again" probably did not help his case. So, the jury believed and found him guilty of Seditious Conspiracy. His apology for his actions rang hollow with the judge. I guess you can see him in 22 years, but if you like, you can send him some soap on a rope.

Even he said comparing themselves to George Washington and the founding fathers was a perversion. You can regret your actions all you want, but it will not change a verdict, though, he only got 22 years instead of the 33 prosecution was asking. Coordinating such an attack is a serious thing.

The jury saw it different, but of course, they sat through the trial, listening to the witnesses and seeing the evidence. You did not.
If it makes you feel better, there is going to be an appeal, though I doubt if his apologies for his actions will lead to a not guilty verdict, and he was sentenced below sentencing guidelines, so it is unlikely an appeal there will be any help. Maybe you can buy him a beer sometime in 2045, when he gets out. He'll be about 60 years old, the prime of his life thrown away, after listening to Trump's lying sore loser bullsh#t.
