This is great news!

The reap -> sow cycle is being illustrated so clearly to these delusional leftists, and they still don't understand it.

The outdoor retail giant REI announced Monday that it plans to close its store in Portland's Pearl District early next year, citing an increase in crime and theft.

In an email to customers Monday, REI said its store in Portland "had its highest number of break-ins and thefts in two decades, despite actions to provide extra security."

Calling bullshit! The Pearl District :auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg:

Closing one store and opening another. It's a move. So what?

"CLACKAMAS, Ore. (KPTV) - Just months after REI announced it’s closing its flagship Portland store, the outdoor retailer says it will open a new location in the Clackamas Town Center.

REI Re/Supply Clackamas will be dedicated to used outdoor gear and apparel. The 16,113 square-foot store will be located just doors away from the existing outlet already at the mall.

“As a member-owned co-op, we have a responsibility to preserve the long-term health of the planet,” said Bob Cagle, REI regional director. “Our Re/Supply offering reimagines the lifecycle of outdoor products and helps keep gear where it belongs—out on trails, waterways and other natural places. Opening a Re/Supply store in the community builds on the popularity of our used program that is enjoyed by many Oregonians.”

Access to the Re/Supply store will be a benefit of a co-op membership."

Less than an hour before REI made public its plans to close its Portland store, the outdoor retail giant gave a courtesy notice to Mayor Ted Wheeler’s office, saying that operating a store within the city limits appeared untenable.

Cameron Janes, REI’s chief commercial officer, wrote that the company did “not believe a store in the city of Portland will be possible in the near term.” It acknowledged the mayor’s “city-wide priority for community safety and initiatives to address crime, homelessness and more” but said the company hadn’t seen “substantial progress … to give us the confidence to invest in another long-term lease.”

The terse message, and months of preceding emails that The Oregonian/OregonLive obtained through a public records request, offer a window into REI’s frustration over the city’s response to its concerns, even as city officials said they were moving expeditiously to keep the store where it was.

The Pearl District

The Pearl District

The Pearl District

The Pearl District is one part of Portland. CLackamass is a better place. Portland may identify with the Outdoors, but that rep is overblown. Old people in Portland are living on memories. LOL

This was their flagship store in Portland. It was there for many years, and the DemoKKKrat party has made the city so filthy and dangerous, REI can't run their business there anymore.
Back in my minimalist backpacking days I used to order from them all the time.....They were the first that I recall that was selling titanium cookware and such.

Clackamas is a suburb, dipshit. You people have made the city too dirty and dangerous for businesses.

That's what liberalism will do. The formerly tremendous City of East St. Louis was an official "All-America" city back in the day. But decades of liberal rule have taken a toll on that city as well.
.

Never been there so I'll take your word for it, you're a reliable source. But I did experience the decline and fall of Seattle and other towns in Western WA State, with a breaking heart.

I've been there. Clackamas is popular with people all over the region, including Vancouver, WA.

The 'you people' thing is hilarious. Portland has always had a serious crime issue. And the area contains a great many conservatives. Crazed rightwingers all over the place to balance out the crazed ANTIFA you people live mimic

Just look at the numbers:
