Portland store shuts down, posts blistering note on front door slamming rampant crime: 'city is in peril'

Democrats are losers when it comes to running cities, Denver has turned into a cesspool.

I am surprised there are any stores left in downtown Portland and in the parts of the city where riots and violence have repeatedly happened. And in other cities on the west coast, insurance rates must be sky-high if you can even get it. I think a lot of people and businesses around the rest of the country don't realize that their insurance rates are going up to pay for the damage done in those riot-torn places. Insurance companies don't have a lot of options, either they raise their rates for everybody or they stop insuring people and businesses that are filing big claims. Ditto for the franchise corps that own stores that are being vandalized or damaged/destroyed, they are not going to throw good money after bad. Instead, they'll shut down their stores and try to sell the property.

Too bad most bigger cities are being destroyed, guess people like
there cities going down the shitter.

A Portland, Oregon, clothing shop permanently shut down this month after facing a string of break-ins that has left the store financially gutted, according to a note posted to the front of the store.

Thefts have plagued retail chains nationwide in recent years. The National Retail Federation conducted a survey that found organized retail crime increased by 26.5% in 2021, resulting in a multi-billion dollar issue for businesses.

Violent crime in Portland has skyrocketed over the last few years. A recent study found it rose most precipitously in 2020 when the city saw near-nightly protests and riots over the death of George Floyd.
The city saw a 58% increase in homicides in 2020 compared to the year prior, and 2021 notched a 54% increase in homicides compared to the already violent and bloody 2020. The number of homicides in 2021 was a 238% increase from the numbers recorded in 2018.
Them Dems sure know how ruin a city

The end result of Liberal Utopia is ghost towns.

ANTIFA fuels this as a form of expression against fascism. BLM sees it as a justifiable form of reparations. Democrats ignore it.

Declaring that criminal behavior in Portland, Oregon, goes unpunished and that repeated break-ins have led to financial ruin, the owner of the Rains PDX clothing store in the city permanently closed the shop this month, KATU2 reported on Sunday.

The store’s owner, Marcy Landolfo, citing 15 break-ins over the past year and a half, said, “The problem is, as small businesses, we cannot sustain those types of losses and stay in business. I won’t even go into the numbers of how much has been out of pocket.”

A note posted on the store stated, “Our city is in peril. Small businesses (and large) cannot sustain doing business, in our city’s current state. We have no protection, or recourse, against the criminal behavior that goes unpunished.”

Ya gotta love those Prog policies.
