while Republicans were "defending" only NINE seats.

7 Democratic Governorship's picked up
6 to 7 State legislatures picked up by the Democrats

But with a close to 50-50 GEOGRAPHIC split in 42 or so states, control of the Senate will be contested even if the dems have significant numerical advantages with House and Potus races.
