That'd be Gordon Lightfoot, not Jimmy Buffett.
The song does say “Jimmy” near the end. That one is assumed to be about his dad, but he had a strained relationship with him and was close to his sea captain grandfather.
Yep."Through 86 years of perpetual motion
If he likes you he'll smile then he'll say
Jimmy, some of it's magic, some of it's tragic
But I had a good life all the way."
Pure poetry.
His dad was also Jim. I just wonder if he combined his father and grandfather's lives in that song. There are lines about the war but that could apply to either WWI or WWII. The last verse is about fishing the pylons, which sounds more like his grandfather. The song does say “Jimmy” near the end.
What a pussy you areI never liked him because the sonofabitch was a big Democrat supporter. Especially the Clintons and Obamas.
Kinda like that Bruce Springsteen asshole.
According to updated reports, it was a rare form of skin cancer.I hope it wasn't the shot that got him. I met him in person before he was famous. 1967 in Mobile.
Rare forms of cancer have exploded since the shots were administered. RIP Jimmy Buffett.According to updated reports, it was a rare form of skin cancer.

OK. From what I have read, he suffered quietly from that condition for almost 5 years.Rare forms of cancer have exploded since the shots were administered. RIP Jimmy Buffett.
His staff will remain silent as to whether he took the shots or not, following the lead of many other stricken entertainers like Celine Dion.
I never met him, but I saw him in a small venue and by the time the show was over, I felt like we were old friends. He was a hell of an entertainer.I hope it wasn't the shot that got him. I met him in person before he was famous. 1967 in Mobile.
Have they? Have rare forms of cancer exploded since the shots were administered? Got a link showing that to be a fact and not just paranoia?Rare forms of cancer have exploded since the shots were administered. RIP Jimmy Buffett.

You might want to listen to his stuff, he was good. Not just as a performer, but a songwriter as well. It's rare to be both, Dylan was a great songwriter, but a horrible performer, I can't listen to that nasal voice of his, it takes all the enjoyment out of his songs and lyrics.I’m not criticizing anyone who likes Buffett
But other than one song he’s not on my radar
The only one I went to was in Vegas. I learned NOT of see him at an indoor venue, the sound was turned up so high my teeth hurt. I actually had to leave.Neither have most legendary rock artists. His live shows were incredible.
