Should posts that fail to contribute to the thread be forbidden? Should nonsensical posts that fail to advance the discussion be deleted?

You might consider adding the following to the "guidelines" of that forum: All posts must address and advance the thread topic.

There's already a requirement to have "sufficient specific topical content" in every post.. Now in civil discussion, we'll give a bit of latitude to folks trying to understand each other's position with a little banter here and there.. But if it's not tied to the topic OR the general conversation -- it's already not legal..

I'm not sure if it's written in stone or not, but generally, even an extremely trolly (is that even a word?) troll such as myself doesn't troll that forum.

The mods do a good job there, IMO.

Let's keep it that way. A wise man once said "don't fix it if it isn't broke".
