The sanctions in 2014 cut moscow's GDP in half. It's silly to think these sanctions won't throw the country in complete economic despair. and there is only one solution >

Strategically good, but bad in human terms. Very bad.

This is just another example of why you don't want an aggressive, narcissistic, pugilistic, authoritarian, hyper-nationalist strongman running your country, or any other.

He puts his own laws, needs and desires over the laws, needs and desires of the country he rules.

Hint, hint.

looks like a new 1917 is on the way

Folks fail to realize that a global economy has global leaders, heads of state are no more than mouthpieces for Lit

They could care less what manner of system is in place , or who mans the helm

Do you think western leaders put the needs of the people before their needs?

It’s much more likely the American empire fails. It’s in decline and falling fast.

The Decline and Fall of the Western Empire - LewRockwell
Almost everyone sees it, and almost no one wants to discuss it: America and Western Europe are spiraling out of control. And the speed of the descent is crescendoing rapidly.

It took a long time for the old Roman Empire to collapse. The seeds of its demise blossomed slowly, but the historically astute among the Romans saw the destructive nation-eating plants growing when they first began to appear, but no one would believe them. And when the end came, it came quickly—almost overnight.

The Roman Empire was so rich and prosperous and so militarily mighty that no one within the empire could even imagine that a collapse was possible. I’m sure that what I’ve heard hundreds of Americans say, “It can’t happen here,” also echoed throughout the old Roman Empire for generations.

Yes! Pay attention Adolf!

She added: ‘This is connected with Eurocentrism. We believe that we are so great that nobody can do without us…It seems to me that Europe needs Russia more than Russia needs Europe. If I am right, then is it really in the interests of the Old World to treat Moscow as an enemy, inclining Moscow to Beijing? Today Europeans are more and more disillusioned and desperate and this may cause mass disorder and anti-government violence’.

Democrats have Zuckerberg buying elections in the US, so the US has oligarchs too.
Russia's are oil based, the US has hi-tech billionaire oligarchs.
Yes but there are many more oligarchs. We have them in nearly every industry, not just tech. Big Pharma, big oil and defense contractors (really war profiteers, calling them defense contractors is newspeak)…To name just a few.

And there is no difference between R and D politicians, as both serve the same elites.

OK, maybe the other "non-hitech" oligarchs/billionaires are just better at buying pols instead of getting them elected.
I was amazed that Kirsten Sinema shutdown the carried interest loophole closure all by herself.
That shows that she is owned by the big-money hedge fund billionaires, and doesn't care if its obvious, since no one else benefitted from her demand.
Must be tons of money going her way.
