Most states have outlawed anything except stuff that "emits showers of sparks" but anything goes in West Virginia. For my money the best fireworks are in the West Virginia border of northern Va. Personally I have a replica Coehorn mortar (the first shot fired in the Civil War) with a 2 1/2 inch bore that takes concrete filled skinny beer cans. With a little less than an ounce of black powder it makes a respectable boom using paper wadding. With a concrete beer can it will rattle your cage and It takes about five seconds for the cans to land. You have to have friendly neighbors and respectable acreage too play with this bad boy.

I hardly drank anything to day, but I did tape 2 pounds of tannerite to a tree and let my wife set it off. 80 yards away and she nailed it with the first shot from the 30-06.

But I forgot to start the camera. All it did was skin the bark off the tree and make a loud boom with a lot of smoke.

Big whoop.
