We have one in Ohio. Zambezi Bay attached to the Columbus Zoo. Right wrong or otherwise I think it makes money and helps fund the zoo. Not sure if they had specialty days of some sort there I worked crazy hours when I lived in the area. My ex and my kids spent some time out there.
