What is the purpose? They are like scammers and spammers.

"Oh. Someone is protesting. Gosh. I guess I better not do such and such cuz some schmuck is screaming about it". Anyone ever do that?

"Oh, gee, sure I will buy this product after being bombarded by spam in my mailbox and online!". Anyone ever do that either?
