Yes, I understand your opinion.What I was referring to really is that the United State is perhaps the worst place for a repressive regime like the one we see unfolding. What might have worked in other countries with a relatively unarmed populace will be a lot harder here. For years republicans cried out that people need guns to protect them from among other things, big government, now that same ideology is about to become the very thing they urged Americans to prepare for - big repressive government.
I would be very surprised! The opposition to Trump is outgunned by his faithful.Don't be surprised either if trump decides to enact a gun restriction policy, because if he doesn't he won't be able to trample on the people like he wants to.
He only has to intimidate the opposition to fascism with a convincing show of fire power. Is the political left even suggesting that they would turn out in numbers to show their guns?You have to disarm a population if you want to abuse them..
Aside from that, the dictator (presumed to be Trump) needs to own the hearts and minds of the military.
If that is not so then your confidence in saving democracy could be closer to the truth than my suspicions.
So for your consideration;
1. Trump owns the military.
2. Those opposing the fascist regime will never take their guns to the streets to demonstrate strength to the fascist regime.
3. It's already over; fascism has gained control.
