Moving money in all it's various forms is the SOLE objective of our economy. But the idea as I understand it was that it was supposed to be a circulatory system - otherwise, the supply runs out and people will begin to have no money to push into the system at all. In other words Ed, the cash tends to stick to the top of the chain if there is no mechanism for recirculation. This leads to a growing number of poor and indigent people - pretty much as we're seeing now, huh?

See Ed, there's a real problem when the folks at the upper end are making more money than they can spend - it's nice, to be sure, but it's still a problem. At that point, the capitalist society that we cherish so much begins to turn into a corporatist collective, which is the opposite of socialism. Once enough money has been collected, the next step is to "invest" in government concessions and that is the road to plutocracy.

The problem is that no one wants to admit that middle class has to pay more taxes and receive less services. The politicians are not dumb, they know they can't win by admitting these facts.
