At a time when we are needing more and more energy, Trump is shutting down 3 billion dollars worth of private development of wind energy. 1 billion offshore, and 2 billion on shore. How does this make any kind of sense? Especially when he is doling out $700 million for inefficient and polluting coal fired plants? In other words, rejecting 3 billion private dollars being put into the economy versus making the taxpayers pay $700 million for a very polluting form of generation.

A moratorium is not a shutdown. And $2B is not $3B.

The thread title is a lie.

Would it have killed the OP to use the same thread title as the linked article?"

The amount of energy produced by wind are minuscule compared to other forms of energy investment.

Shutting down this government waste is probably a good thing. Nip it in the bud before these folks graft any more and put that investment into real energy solutions.

All of Asia is ramping up the use of coal, because they are smart. It is time for us to be smart too, those government energy subsidies would be better used for the gasification of coal.

That will provide far more energy, and we already have the work force for that.

They should let it go forward only if taxpayers are not subsidizing it.

Two lies in one thread title. Exaggerating the dollar amount by 50% and claiming it is shutdown, and not a moratorium.

Talk about desperate.

When you use a phrase like "de-facto moratorium," a full explanation is required. There is no such thing as a "de facto moratorium." What EXACTLY did the Administration do? Why? Is it is delay or a prevention?

The Germans in recent years built massive wind farms in the ocean and FORGOT about transmission lines that made them worthless. What do we have here?

They forgot about the transmition lines? how is that even possible?

GOOD!!!

As an employee of a large private electric company here in the Northeast I applaud this decision.

Even if I thought it would be the panacea that the woke leftist environmentalists claim, what people don’t get is that there’s nowhere to put the energy even if it could be generated. We don’t have the substation capacity or transmission/sub-transmission infrastructure to handle it. We can’t take the amount of distributed generation we currently have. We’re forcing solar sites to run at far less than capacity because we can’t do anything with it. At full capacity they’d burn the system to the ground.

Trump is a waste of time.
