The Church should really outlaw *all* forms of corruption within it's own ranks, and make that the perpetual standard, one that all future popes are selected on and held to as well.
This is really quite possible with the aid of modern mass media and social media.
If this were to happen, then a partial return to politics is even possible for the various Christian Churches, much like the Royals are still involved in politics.
Why? The 'government' structure, with it's judicial branches and endless lawbooks full of laws so dense that they form secret laws, is quite corruptable.
With a (much) better public image, the Church could speak in government circles for those who are mistreated by government and lawmakers.
