i can't stay at home which is why I need you to. My job is deemed critical infrastructure and an essential service. I work from home most days, but am required in the office at least once a week.No Fishy, it's not stupid to test every person before they are allowed back to work. What IS stupid is the thought that everything must be 100% foolproof. If you are testing everyone, you can identify those who are positive but asymptomatic, reducing the risk of infection to that person who tested negative. Now do try to stop being illogically stupid. Stay home. They are only testing 250 people per day per site.Oddly...weeks ago Trump said we had pleny of "beautiful" tests.they are on the way this week. They don't just appear out of thin air, they have to be made, packed and shipped. But even with the old tests, we are testing more people than any other country.
I don't see how we can go from 3100 as of today to 100,000. but even if that happens, is 100,000 better than 2,000,000? That was the original projection from the "experts"
Remember?
"Anyone who wants a test can get one"?
and that was true then and its true now. anyone with symptoms can get a test. There were virtually no lines at the testing centers here in NOLA yesterday and we have one of the highest infection rates per capita.
Drive-thru COVID-19 testing: What you need to know before you go
Only 250 tests will be done at each site daily. Tests will be administered on a first-come first-served basis every day.www.wwltv.com
and there are just under 100 test cites operational today. can you multiply 250 times 100? the positive test rate is about 15-18% so that means that 85-99% test negative but have similar symptoms.
Why should we test people with no symptoms?
We should test everyone. You want people back to work, right? That means testing every single person before they do.
Back to New Orleans and the rosy picture you keep wanting to paint...
Drive-thru coronavirus testing sites in New Orleans have shut down early every day since opening
New Orleans area drive-thru testing sites have run out of coronavirus test kits every day since they opened on Sunday, as the number of sick residents seeking diagnoses has outpacedwww.nola.com
thats stupid, if someone tests negative does that mean he/she won't catch it the next day? You seem to think that a negative test means you can never get it. Test the people with symptoms, if they test positive treat them and isolate them, if negative that just means they dont have corona but may have flu or something else, then treat them for that disease.
It makes zero sense to try to test 330 million people.
I am staying home, are you? There is no practical way to test 330 million people. It might be good if there was, but there is not and never will be. If an employer wants to test his people when they come back to work, thats a good idea. Why would I be tested? I am retired, I have no symptoms, and have no underlying medical issues. I might get it from someone in a grocery store, but I am willing to take that risk in order to be able to buy food. If I get symptoms I will go to my doctor or a test site and get tested, until then give the tests to people with symptoms.
This is the United States of America. We put a man on the moon and won two world wars. Yes, we could test every single person. We manage to count them, we should be able to test them.
