For all of you that love to discuss and debate politics, here's a few points to keep in mind while rattling swords:

(1) Legislation is a commodity bought and sold on the floors of Congress.
(2) The U.S. Government is an entity unto itself, answerable to no one except itself.
(3) Politics is fueled by greed, self-service, egos, the thirst and hunger for power, and climbing the political ladder at all cost.
(4) To the government, citizens are merely a source for taxes and votes, and nothing else, period.
(5) Washington politics is corrupt, anti-America, and self-serving.

There is some truth to what you say, Sonny boy, but how about this:

Are the voters "corrupt"?

Corruption is the exercise of political power for personal benefit.

If I'm an old bastard drawing Social Security, and I vote for my congressional representatives based on what they promise to do (or not to do) with Social Security according to what will benefit me most on a personal basis, then why am I any better than the legislator who advocates for constituents who will send him money?

(And I disagree with #2 above. Politicians are answerable to their voters. Obviously. Voters vote out politicians who piss them off or don't do what the voters want.)

Wish that was true, most vote for there party, return the same do nothing people to power year after year.

What role does capitalism play in the politics of greed, self-service, and inverse totalitarianism?

"Capitalists espouse supply-side economics, otherwise known as the 'trickle-down economics,' in which providing tax cuts and other benefits to businesses indirectly helps the rest of the population by increasing investments in infrastructure and markets.

"However, this translates in to tax cuts on capital gains, corporate income, and high individual income taxes, thereby exclusively benefitting the wealthy."

What the banksters and Wall Street are engaging in isn't capitalism, comrade.

FIRE sector capitalists have more use for Ayn Rand than for allocating goods and services on the basis of need instead of ability to pay.

"A FIRE economy is any economy based primarily on the Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate sectors.

"Finance, insurance, and real estate are United States census bureau classifications. Barry Popik describes some early uses as far back as 1982.[1] Since 2008, the term has been commonly used by Michael Hudson[2] and Eric Janszen.[3]

"It is New York City's largest industry and a prominent part of the service industry in the U.S. overall economy and other Western, developed countries."

Sometimes, the truth is negative.

All dependent upon the fiat money banking empire and shell game of the Fed....NOT capitalism, properly defined.

When, if ever, did the US economy function in a capitalist fashion according to your definition?

Classical liberalism - Wikipedia

"[A]t the center of classical liberal theory [in Europe] was the idea of laissez-faire.

"To the vast majority of American classical liberals, however, laissez-faire did not mean no government intervention at all.

"On the contrary, they were more than willing to see government provide tariffs, railroad subsidies, and internal improvements, all of which benefited producers.

"What they condemned was intervention in behalf of consumers.[42"
