Pelosi Says She Will Impeach President Trump If He Doesn’t Resign “Immediately”

Trump won't be ever to run for President or any elected office in the U.S. government ever again.

That's what the Nazis are scared to death of. But their accusations don't make it Gospel. The requirements for being President are written in the US Constitution.

It appears that the House and Senate can prevent a President from ever being able to hold elected office in the U.S. government again if they see that person as a threat to the country because of their actions. If the House and Senate pass it, it becomes law. I doubt they would have it in the articles of impeachment if it was not constitutional.

There is no way to rationally do that...every local issue would have to have a test around it. People care a lot about some things and are knowledgeable but don’t care at all about other things.

I understand the frustration but there is no way do it with abuse and disenfranchisement.

I'm actually referring to federal elections. I could care less about local elections. Here's my point: if we got rid of mail-in voting, that would discourage people who don't really know or care about politics. The people who take the time and energy to vote are those that really care, and if you really care about the country, it's likely you do know what you are voting on be it Democrat or Republican.

I disagree. Voting should an obstacle course and frankly, people don’t vote for many reasons beyond apathy. There might be too many obstacles, or they might feel their doesn’t matter, nothing changes, does not mean they are ignorant. On the other hand you can have dutiful voters who vote because it is their civic duty, but are damn ignorant and just follow whatever their leader tells them to do.

I do not think we should mess with anything that discourages voting.

They can't prevent anything unless Trump was committed of a crime while in office. You need 2/3 of the Senate for that during an impeachment.

You know that federal elections are also local elections. Unless you are suggesting bifurcating the ballots, and enacting different qualifications for each one.

Maybe have a quick 5 question quiz before each section of the ballot that you have to pass in order for that section to be counted.

And we shouldn't do anything to encourage it either. If you want to register, register. If you want to vote, go to the polls and vote.

Oh really.

Like Rump himself?

Like the Military? Or anyone else not home during an election?

Like everyday citizens in Washington and Utah and AridZona who have been running their elections by mail REGULARLY?

And you somehow muddled through the last twelve months WITHOUT NOTICING there's an infectious pandemic going on, which spreads in places of densely-packed people, such as a polling place where people are known to have to stand in line for HOURS???

And ALL OF THIS sailed right over your head, did it?

Like I said, Democrats have been pushing mail-in for years long before the virus for the reasons I stated. The virus was just an excuse. People go shopping all the time: grocery shopping, drug store, Walmart, fast food. Voting is no different. I have comorbidity and 60 years old, and I went out and voted in person. They were actually much stricter than bars and Walmart.

Mail in is fine for people who simply cannot get to the polls, but it should be restricted to those people only. If you're in the military, going to be out of town, live in a nursing home and can't get to the polls, physically impaired, that's understandable. You should have to request a ballot, when returned, the signature must match, and I have no problem with that. But that didn't happen in some places this election.

The state of frickin' Utah is "Democrats"?? Poster please. How come mail-in ballots were just fine for the Military, just fine for those who wouldn't be home on election day, just fine for several states who have been using it exclusively, just fine for Rump himself, and now all of a sudden when you don't like what was in them you try to come up with "fraud" --- on the basis of NOTHING?

Get OFF it. Mail-in ballots have been used since the frickin' CIVIL WAR. Funny you had no problem with it until now.

The highly educated see the big picture, but like the big picture that means that they are out for the species, and not for the individual. Which is why a democracy should listen to all voices, the intelligent, and the ignorant.

After all, I should point out the biggest group of "ignorant" voters, are the right to lifers. If you ask them why they vote how they vote, and that will be the single reason. Next come the 2nd amendment folks. And the list goes on from there.

They asked Sarah Palin about supreme court cases, and the only one she knew was Roe v Wade.

Every person I know that votes Republican are into politics. Every person I bring up politics to that doesn't know anything votes Democrat. The extent of their knowledge is that Republicans are for the rich, and Democrats are for the poor. Or Democrat sounds like democracy, and democracy is a good thing, right?

But I'll tell you what, if any representative would ever make such a suggestion, Republican representatives would probably have few objections, and Democrat politicians would have a fit. They know what every ghetto votes for by well over 95%.
I can make the same generalizations, just flip Republican and Democrat.

Do you think those asshats that broke into the capital are representactive of an informed and knowledgeable Republican voter?

Or we could just vote the way we always have; go to the polls and vote. That would discourage those who are not interested in voting from voting. If they want to vote, then fine, vote, but we shouldn't be placing ballots on your kitchen table to do it.

Proving that she is the one who is mentally unfit to remain in office, Pelosi makes this absurd, insane, and knowingly inflammatory declaration knowing (or not) President Trump will be out of office well before she could EVER get her latest coup attempt out of the House and to the Senate.

For all of the Democrats' talk of wanting to UNITE the country, this comment was made with the intent to piss off millions of Americans and further divide the nation....

....either that or she's just BATSHIT CRAZY!

Unlike last time, Democrats will have a majority in the Senate as of January 15. While it takes a 2/3 majority of the Senate to remove him from office, it only takes a simple majority to permanently bar him from ever holding public office again. Say goodbye to a 2024 rerun.

Son, it’s been explained out your ass! Chain of custody. Fk, can’t you fkers ever use your heads?

What do they have to do with it, and what difference does that make? We don't even know anything about them yet.

Especially not asking for that ballot

Really? What was the constitutional basis for the ban on sawed off shotguns, and what part of the constitution gave congress permission to enact that ban. What USSC case was the basis for that power?

You're a gun guy, Show us that you know the politics and history behind Heller V DC.

Again, I'm not talking about a history test here, just a basic knowledge of what's going on in our country today.
Everybody should know about Wickard V Ferguson. It formed the basis of every gun control, and drug control law.

We will have to agree to disagree. I think the more people who involve themselves the better, regardless of party. In the process they may learn something. Instead of looking for opportunities to shut them out why not make opportunities to educate and inform?

Wow! Hard to believe how scared of this guy you are.

You don't get educated and informed by voting, you get educated and informed before voting.

Oh please, I'm sure anybody could bring up a case you or I know nothing about. Again, that's not what I'm saying here. You're talking history, and I'm talking about current basic political knowledge.

And you believe your own tripe, i.e. the highly educated and well off are the real saints, the ones who put the needs of the poor ahead of their own personal comforts and pleasures. :"Let's see, should I spend $2 million on an even bigger house, or should I give that money to dig wells for clean water in Mozambigue and provide food for the thousands of malnourished children who are dying? I need the luxury home."

You use the words "the big picture" like it means something. The democrats' idea of the big picture is destroying the civility and soul of this nation.

The constitution prohibits bills of attainder.
