Pastor Admits To 'Sexual Incident' With A Minor, Gets Applauded By Congregation

I think the average age of a first year high school student in that state is over the age of consent. According to the press release you supplied she was one year OVER the age of consent at 17.
but she didn't consent--it was sexual assault

I just read her account.

He asked her to do something. She did it.

Her word, "asked".

She was over the age of consent. This is not assault.

She later says, " she felt manipulated and used,".

HE is a sleaze, but not a rapist.

THe Church applauded his apology.

So, we done here?
They are only looking for excuses to justify the very same, and WORSE, crimes for themselves.

But her story says no such thing. She says he asked, she said yes. He regretted it, as soon as it happened. It was not an assault, in my definition of assault. He did not force her. As her youth pastor, was he ethically wrong? Yes.
And your TN definition calls it battery, even if he didn’t force himself on her.
The guy's a dirtbag. Parents, especially of girls, should NEVER allow these situations.

NO christian here approves, so what the hell do you want? What are you looking for from "us."?

The left sees "hypocrisy" because Christians are not perfect, but you ignore the log in your own eye. The hypocrisy I see is with the 'tards, who want to excuse their own crimes.

The real point is, HE STOPPED. She did not ask him to stop. She did not say NO. HE realized that what he was doing was wrong under his moral code and stopped. He left the girl, got out of the car and went to pray alone. We don't know whether the girl demanded he return and finish.

This is what angered her. She was already seeing herself as Mrs. Pastor and he destroyed her girlish dreams. She thought he loved her. However, she took her unsullied self with her virginity intact ( much to her dismay), and went on for TWENTY YEARS, until she got the me too flu.

Memphis megachurch pastor Andy Savage received a standing ovation in church on Sunday after apologizing for assaulting a woman when she was a high school student.

A few things to note:
  1. "more than 20 years ago" - this is said repeatedly and is meant to minimize what happened
  2. he continues to call it a sexual "incident" rather than sexual assault
  3. he says he took full responsibility for his actions, but what he did was actually illegal, and he did not take any take any legal responsibility
  4. he says he shared every aspect of what he did with his wife before he asked her to marry him - the implicit framing here is that the issue is about sexual purity rather than sexual assault and abuse of power
  5. he says "I never sought to cover this up" - but where in all his teaching about sexual purity has he admitted to sexually assaulting a minor under his spiritual care?
  6. the lead pastor prays that God would touch the heart of the victim and "heal her of the pain that was caused from this sin 20 years ago" - notice again the minimizing use of the time frame, as well as the use of the word "sin"
  7. the use of the word "sin" carries the subtle implication of her participation in a shared failure rather than her victimization
  8. the lead pastor says "Guess what, this sin did not happen in the last couple days. This sin happened over 20 years ago. That does not minimize the sin." - I can't see why they would continue to emphasize how long ago this happened for any reason other than to minimize it
  9. the lead pastor says, "none of us want anyone to throw a stone. Why? Because you never heal by hurting others." - the implication is that telling the truth is throwing a stone, and that asking for the truth to be told is hurtful

So what do you guys think about this?

We know that Muslim men like young boys, and we also know that Malcom X was gay prostitute. Sexual deviance is not just confined to one type of church.
Malcolm X - gay black hero?

Yep. Leftists keep expecting christians to live absolutely spotless lives, even though they love to remind us they don't.

Here's a little"secret." There are no perfect christians.

Now look at your own atheistic schools where you send YOUR children each and every day.

This thread isn't about "Republicans."

You know Republicans are not all Christians, don't you?

You seem very confused.

So what do you guys think about this?

I think it's a sin for which he will have to answer to God.

I also think some people allow this kind of thing to fester and ruin them. Many, if not most, 17-year old black American girls have at least one child. No father just a baby daddy. So if you feel like fretting yourself to death, there's something for you to worry about.

Typical attempt to deflect. This thread has nothing to do with any girl, regardless of what her race may be, becoming a single parent.

Points one through nine well taken. Mr. Purity Himself didn't apologize until after Woodson exposed his "sin." Arguing "age of consent" is really meaningless in a situation in which an experienced adult, who is a clergy member teaching abstinence, deliberately drives a 17-year-old, who probably has not ever been in a sexual situation before, to a secluded area to take sexual advantage of her. I wonder if these people who gave this guy an ovation would have responded the same way if he had done the same thing to a 17-year-old boy.

So many of the people who claim to be Christians nowadays are nothing but hypocrites. And these "megachurches" all seem to be run by kooks.
Kinda like liberals has a nine year old boy, modeling for them in drag? That kinda taking advantage of. Now after that, I think what the pastor did was sick, like the way Clinton took advantage of a young intern.
Purity

Such deflection! You skipped right over the part that he was an adult, who was a clergy member who taught "purity" and "abstinence" to his charges, who deliberately used subterfuge to spirit one of them, who had probably never been in a sexual situation and probably had not been taught anything about sex, off to a secluded place and then demanded oral sex and fondled her, and then waited 20 years until she challenged him, and "confessed" two days later. An eight-year-old drag queen/model in Toronto is an entire different issue.
I know, the boys situation is worse, and liberals support that type of lifestyle.

You are still mixing up two separate issues, issues which should be discussed individually. I believe that I asked before whether the response to the situation involving Savage would be any different if the circumstances had been identical but the victim had been a male 17-year-old.

Well considering you think it's okay for a nine year old representing drag and the lifestyle. I would think you would consider a 17 year old an old man, by that age.

The girl was 17. He was 22. This is a case of two young people fooling around. The twist is, the guy chickened out and not the girl. He left her alone and damp. It took her 20 years to get revenge for his rejection.

A 17 year old boy lured into sex by a much older man is a very popular movie. The love story sensitively told.

First, we have no proof that there IS a God. So leaving punishment to some super being in the sky is not logical.

Second, the problem with young black girls that you brought up, is something for the black community to deal with. It's something THEY should "worry about". Blacks do NOT want advice or opinions from white people. So, their problems are their own to solve, imo. Good luck to them. Time to get to work. Lol...

All blacks want from whites is money and as much free stuff as they can con them out of.

So now we have a racial divide pursuant to which each racial "community" in the U.S. has to deal with the problem of unmarried youth pregnancy on its own? We should not deal with this problem as a national community? How are we whites supposed to deal with our young white "baby daddies" and "baby mommies" on our own?

No, we're not done. trump IS a misogynist. He's got a whole string of charges against him, and he has admitted to all sorts of misogynist behavior.....

Yeah, I stopped reading here. Why you lie so much?

Point to me where I am lying. This "man," who is on his third marriage, has bragged about his whorish and perverted past out of his own mouth, on tape. He has bragged about his promiscuity. If one is an honorable Christian, who embraces Christian values as taught to the rest of us, why would he brag about leading such a wayward life? My understanding, through many decades, of the "Christian" approach to sexual morality is that one refrains from sexual activity until one can appear at the altar along side one's intended spouse to present to this soon-to-be spouse himself/herself as a "pure" soul, to live in fidelity to this spouse as long as they both shall live. Did I get Christian values wrong somehow?

1. Being bad at marriages is not normally considered evidence of misogyny.

2. Being rich and famous and thus attractive to women, is also, not normally considered evidence of misogyny.

3. Your attempt to hold others to "honorable Christian standards" is noted and dismissed as laughable, Hillary supporter.

so we have many links stating he admitted to sexual assault
he didn't admit to it??

But what she describes was not sexual assault.

No it wasnt, but it should be dealt with in private and include only the people involved. Why grovel in public if he made peace.
Public opinion is pretty much worthless

Why? And why care about that?

But thank you for agreeing that it is not sexual assault.

2. Being rich and famous and thus attractive to women, is also, not normally considered evidence of misogyny.

3. Your attempt to hold others to "honorable Christian standards" is noted and dismissed as laughable, Hillary supporter.

1) The sexual moral code as has been passed down for centuries in the Christian faith: My understanding of this code is, as I said, that one refrains from sexual activity until one can appear at the altar along side one's intended spouse to present to this soon-to-be spouse himself/herself as a "pure" soul, and to live in fidelity to this spouse as long as they both shall live. trump has admitted to being sexually promiscuous both before and during his first two marriages (I don't know about this one). The guy even spoke of his courage during the Vietnam war of trying to avoid STDs while staying stateside. He certainly does not appear to have been a virgin when he married his first wife. It is evident that after his first wedding, he proceeded to commit adultery at every opportunity, and then did the same thing during his second marriage. His record of promiscuity certainly suggests that he has viewed his sexual partners as disposable. It must be noted here that women have been subjected to all sorts of nastiness, ridicule, and derision for even one single violation of this moral code, while men have been allowed to flaunt it with no repercussions.

If you do not believe my description of the historic Christian code of sexual morality as taught to congregants, ask a Catholic or Orthodox priest, or any member of the Protestant clergy whether I am right or wrong. After all, the Christian clergy, particularly the Catholics and the evangelicals have been vociferously pushing this on the American Public for decades. The evangelicals are completely obsessed with sexual morality. It's the only area of morality that they ever babble about.

Your comments defending trump's morality raise the inference that many generations of Christian girls and women have been lied to, and that the notion of morality that was drummed into their heads as some sort of direction from God to get them into heaven has been hokum all along, and that God never would have minded if they had all gone out there and lived the sort of lifestyle that trump has lived.
Attention, ladies who have passed up one hell of a lot of good sex with this hunk or that: good news, you're free! No more missing out!
You don't have to refrain just because you are single and you don't have to stay faithful to your husbands! Time for a raunchy night out. God apparently doesn't care.

2) Misogyny: trump's treatment of women, his history of promiscuity, and the comments that he has made about women suggest a high degree of disrespect of, and contempt for persons of the female sex. It also suggests that he views women solely as sexual objects, not as persons who are his equals.

3) The women pictured: I don't know much about the first one, if it's Huma Abedin, she filed for divorce and now, as I understand, she has withdrawn the petition. As for Ms. Clinton: in her personal life, everyone knows that she has been a life-long practicing Christian of the Methodist persuasion. There has never been any hint of sexual misconduct on her part. It is well known that she got the minister of her church in DC to provide counseling to keep the Clintons' marriage together. In her professional life, she has been a master of policy, was one of the first to work on the healthcare crisis, and has served honorably as a U.S. Senator and the U.S. Secretary of State. Of course, I supported her for the presidency. Why would I have supported trump instead of her, given her record against his?

she says sexual assault per the OP

But what she describes was not sexual assault.

No it wasnt, but it should be dealt with in private and include only the people involved. Why grovel in public if he made peace.
Public opinion is pretty much worthless
Consent is lacking in any situation where the defendant is in a place of power or charged with the care of the victim. This includes the defendant being a health care services provider, clergyman, public servant, or an employee of a facility where the victim resides.

Trump has said a number of comments about certain individual women.

That suggests he views those specific women negatively.

Your attempt to take that as an attack on "women" is unsupported.

Again, your attempt to hold others to your assumptions of "honorable Christian standards" is noted and dismissed as

laughable, Hillary supporter.

I take it that you are not a supporter of Christian values, or American values, either. I gather that you are just another white male who doesn't want civilization to interfere with your chosen lifestyle, but does want to dominate everyone else. Quit playing identity politics.

Yeah, that was a nice big helping of crazy there.

Trump has certainly been a player, and failed at marriage twice. This does reflect badly on him.

That was a minus for him in the election, no doubt.

But he is now pretty old, and probably pass skirt chasing.

And there is nothing in his policies to show any type of hostility towards women.

Sooo, your pretense of concern is not credible.

Indeed, coming from a Hillary supporter your pretense is utterly laughable.
