Our Solar/Alt Energy Future

thats a pretty small looking airport for all those panels. Or do they plug their planes into really long extension cords?
Fusion is on the way in maybe a decade or less.
Once it takes hold all other forms of electricity generation will immediately take a back seat.

There's no way to compete with fusion.
For one one penny in you get 8 pennies out.
Not only will the power be abundant and endless it will be 10 times cheaper than the current supply. The idea of having solar panels on your house top will seem absolutely comically ridiculous at that point. Since fusion cannot be distributed to the neighborhoods but can only come from a central location the entire market for homemade electricity will be utterly destroyed.

This will completely wreak havoc with all the renewables that are out there right now.

I love rubbing it in elektra face. :)

2016 eh? Lol ..... Well now 10 years later Germany has to buy power from other places like France who was smart enough to maintain their nuclear reactors unlike the Germans who decided to try to wear a green merit badge.

Pretty funny how you dont know fact from fiction.

He knows...he just does not CARE, because he is a propagandist.

Which one of you fools was claiming that solar could never match nuclear.

Fusion is ten years away.

And always will be.

And Republicans gave away this huge advantage, making America the loser.

The changes inside China are vital for the planet. But what is happening outside its borders — in the proliferation of China’s clean-energy exports — may have a more enduring impact on the climate and geopolitics. The flood of relatively low-cost Chinese green technology now reaches nearly every corner of the world. Sleek new Chinese electric vehicles fill the streets of Bangkok, São Paulo and Addis Ababa. Chinese-built solar panels blanket the sun-drenched cities of Pakistan and the 13,000-foot altiplano of Argentina. Wind farms with towering Chinese turbines dot the narrow coast of Bosnia, the plains of Kenya and, of course, the highlands of southeastern Laos. Last year, astonishingly, China exported clean-energy technology to 191 of the 192 other U.N. member states, according to an analysis by Lauri Myllyvirta of the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) in Helsinki. The only country not on the list: the Central African Republic.

Are you peons and pedestrians going to tell Elon Musk that he is wrong?

China is going to need hardly any oil, will clean up their air, and are already the world leader in very cool electric cars. This excess power they are generating will allow them to lead in so many crucial industries, while also being able to sell power to their neighbors and satellites, as they have been doing for years now. They have covered Cambodia with windmills.

All totally given away to them by Republicans over the past 13 years. In exchange for $20,000 campaign donations.

Unless you want to live off the grid. Also, for national security purposes we need multiple sources of energy in diverse locations. It wouldn't hurt to bury parts of the grid as well.
