Zone1 One significant reason why many do not believe in religion, it is just too damn hard

Girlyman Jesus Was a Truth-Fairy

Quit lying. You know perfectly well that I meant that you want to make us Realists feel inferior, lazy, and lost. You didn't get what you wanted from me, and like a spoiled brat, you pretend that you did.

There is such a right as freedom not to be bothered. You violate that with your self-righteous preaching, so expect us to fight back, especially when you are seducing confused people desperate for simple answers that cover everything.
Is spite of falsely slandering Jesus, leftist democrats love girly men.

Cross off Any Crosses to Bear

Religions make believers too hard on themselves, which causes a breakdown followed by a depressing guilt at failure to match up to a sadistic test.
Suicides are up among transgenders but contrary to what simpletons may think, it is not Jesus' fault.

I left Christianity as I learned the very hard way that few Christians follow the tenets that Jesus promoted and in fact, turning the other cheek allowed evil people to destroy me. I am still fighting this evil to this day in Canada.

The message I received was not by choice but it reinforced at the time what I was instinctively being told, by means I perhaps didn't understand, "this is the way, this is what you are and always have been"

I have learned there are plenty of fake people of faith across all religions. I listen to Rabbis and honest followers of faith but I also see many influencers and well known Jews who act in ways that clearly defy Judaism. They are playing the most dangerous game.

I do not care if one keeps Shabbat, avoids pork and celebrates Passover if their actions insuilt G-d. The latter does not replace the former and thus I instinctively avoid their energy.

That is my measuring stick of who and what premises I follow. Religion is very personal and yes, there are organised elements of any faith. I will follow the best examples and those who maintain fidelity to the faith, not those who say "I am Christian" or "I am Jewish" but cast darkness with their words and actions.

To me that is taunting G-d. Exploiting him as one might use a co-worker to receive a promotion.

I turned my back on Christians who betrayed this and I will any Jew who does as well. As the OP expresses, it is really difficult and lonely to be noble. When I see a Mensch I try and emulate them, not the loud, false, self promoter of faith.
Few Christians follow the Lord, so you decided to join the disobedient rebels?

Most democrats don't feel the need to tell others how to live their lives.

Small government Republicans, love dictating how people should live theirs.
Both democrats and republicans pass laws, many times jointly, and we much honor those laws even if we don't like being told what to do.

Not sure what the point of your reply is.
Life is hard in some ways and people should realize that it does not matter whether or not they like being told what to do, both God and the government sometimes tell them what to do just the same.

Well, I'm confused.

Republicans are for people keeping out of their lives, or they're for people controlling their lived?

Because to me it looks like they say the first, and practice the second.

If someone else's religious freedom others you then you will have to learn not to be so soft-skinned as to think people should not have rights if you don't like them enjoying those rights.
You are free to grovel all day in front of your imaginary sky friend.

It's when you try to impose it on the rest of us we have an issue.

As has been explained to you over seventy times seven times already, the author of the story was addressing a problem prevalent in that day and time--one of child sacrifice.

Isaac was no longer a child. When Isaac asked where was the sacrifice, Abraham responded, "God will provide."

Um, yeah, not sure how you get that Isaac wasn't a child from that story. I think that's the first question a child would ask if they were going to a sacrifice and not bringing an animal.

Here's the problem with a lot of these stories. Human sacrifice was very common in Bronze Age Palestine, including the worshipers of Yahweh (who was a minor god among many). But the later Iron Age Hebrews who wrote the bible needed to pretend they were above that sort of thing when they weren't. This is how stories like Jephthah and Isaac still leak into the narrative.

As you know, the lesson in Jephthah was an example of father/daughter (both) falling back into pagan ways of child sacrifice (strictly forbidden), elevating a man's word/promise above God's command. It became more important to Jephthah to follow his own word than it was for a man to follow God's word. It became more important to the daughter to obey man's command over God's command.

Except that's not really how the story went.

Jephthah promised to sacrifice the first thing he encountered when he got home after slaughtering the Ammonites.
the first thing he ran into was his daughter.
Because he swore an oath to Yahweh, they both felt obligated to go through with it.

Now, the whole story of Jephy is that the guy was a grade A psychopath. He slaughtered thousands of Ammonites and even his fellow Hebrews in the whole "Shiboleth" incident.

The more likely story is that this was a human sacrifice that was so ingrained in local tradition that the writers of the bible had to account for it.

Do she-bears ever hunt together? No. We've gone over the theme/lesson in that account as well.
Yes, you've come up with a whole bunch of excuses why God sent bears to slaughter children, and that was a good thing.

Reading the bible, I get the impression that Yahweh really doesn't like kids.
He drowns every kid in the world in the flood.
He tells Abe to sacrifice Isaac
He kills all the first born kids in Egypt.
He is cool with Jephy chopping up his kid
He kills David and Bathsheba's baby to teach David a lesson.
He sends out bears to kill kids who made fun of a bald prophet.

Seriously, Joe. There is no need to come up with excuses to why you hate God, and why you hate lesbians. Accept that you do and move on....forgiveness is best, but indifference may be an improvement.
Naw, man, I love lesbians. Especially the hot ones.

Good people obey civilized laws and don't whine about it. Tell the whiners:

Nobody should stupidly assume because I share my Christian views that is somehow meant to force you to think or do anything.
