powerful? lol
Well, hopefully not any longer, but for a while he's had every GOPer in the House wrapped around his finger with that silly no-tax pledge.

Good to see some of them recently telling him to get stuffed.

Well, he was certainly powerful enough when the GOP was driving us off the cliff.

Herman Cain has all the right qualifications for a cantankerous old grandpa....but POTUS?.....not so much.

He has only begun to be attacked.

Yup.

His rendition of "Imagine" should cost him a few points right there when it gets around.

So let's see Grover Nordquist is against it based on the results of the VAT implemented in Europe.
Retailers are against it because it will kill retail sales.
For that reason economists are against it because it'll slow down consumer spending, which drives the US economy and also will reduce the GNP.
Plus 9-9-9 taxes the biggest segment of the US population (Middle Class & poor) at a higher rate than the wealthy la the sales tax.
Yet, the die-hards love it, even though most will be negatively effected by 9-9-9.

You're kidding right? Norquist's pledge that he forced on almost every GOP legislator in Washington helped scuttle most of the workable deals that came along. Norquist is one of the big players in the GOP. He's not as powerful as the Koch brothers, but he's more powerful than most of the Radio Heads.

Whoops, I forgot the home construction industry, because new houses will have an additional 9% price ala the sales tax.
The trucking industry will be hurt because of the extra 9% sales tax, that extra cost in delivery of goods will be passed on to the consumer, thus driving up consumer goods prices, which will increase the sales tax total of their possible purchase. Again, hurting the consumer.
It just doesn't end.
