Oh look, more anti-free speech from Vance.

Bullshit. Disagreeing is one thing, celebrating an innocent death is another. Frankly, if I were working with a crazy like that, I would want him gone as well.
Once again it’s the left that wants the consequences to fall on only one side. Thats no longer an option. Has there ever been a more prophetic organization name than Turning Point?

"Report those who celebrate Charlie Kirk death to employers, Vance says"

Yep, Vance wants to stop people saying negative things about Charlie Kirk.

""Call them out, and hell, call their employer," Vance said as he guest-hosted an episode of the Charlie Kirk Show. "We don't believe in political violence, but we do believe in civility.""

Apparently they believe in "civility" which is news to me.

This from a guy who called out the UK on freedom of speech.

JD Vance calls out UK’s ‘modern dystopia’ amid ‘sad decline’ in freedom of speech

Essentially the right want to control speech if they don't like it, and make it free if they do. Kind of fascist to me.

The First Amendment only applies to Government attempts to restrict speech. Your employer or any other private or corporate entity can restrict your speech all day long. If you celebrate Charlie Kirk's murder on social media you should be fired. Period.

Bull$hit...

It is the Vice President of the United States calling for violence-enabling speech to be spanked...

A grand idea...

Leftist fuckery was behind Black Lives Matter just as it was behind the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I could care less about your vendetta against my Vice President.

Christ, the crap you come out with. It's embarrassing.

Is it?

When you incite violence, what is used?

Speech.

When you impel others to act, what method is used?

Speech.

If a person acts on the speech, and that act is illegal, we punish both of them.

Furthermore, it is the employer's prerogative to act on reports of employees celebrating Kirk's death, just as it is mine to act on reports of posts here on this forum.

JD Vance can't compel them to fire anyone.

And yet Vance attacked the UK for prosecuting people for that.

Vance shouldn't be saying what he's saying. It's not his job to say this. If he thinks this, then fine, he can think whatever, he can tell his wife in PRIVATE whatever he likes. But in PUBLIC he is not an individual citizen, he's a government worker.

The counter pressure is going to backfire on the GOP and on America. Free speech is critical to Americas success, invaluable in fact.
This has nothing to do with free speech, people can say what they want and not face LEGAL consequences (short of those specific categories of speech that SCOTUS has ruled are not protected), however people can still suffer non-legal consequences for what they say, like for example getting let go by their employer.

I don't like cancel culture whether it be from the left or the right, however this is a pressure release valve, the nation is at DEFCON 4 over Charlie's murder and the right (along with plenty of people in the middle) want the left to pay some consequences for it (along with all the other injustices that have been visited upon them by the left over the years).

Better some deranged, insensitive TikTok assholes get fired from their jobs than the alternative.

Yes? That's free speech. He's also the 2nd most powerful man on Earth. His words carry weight.

Vance shouldn't be saying what he's saying.
Ah, but now you're telling him what he should and shouldn't say.

This defeats the premise of your thread.

Then you guys need to stop trying to get people fired for disagreeing with Kirk.

Republicans now support doxxing. Cool.

Vance attacked the UK for attacking its own people for demanding an end to the influx of foreigners and demonstrating patriotism.

That is not what these Left-Wing organizations do.

Vance shouldn't be saying what he's saying.
Sure he should... leadership-by-example... see or hear an example of someone celebrating American political assassination?

Report it to his-or-her employer and then let that employer decide whether that person is now a "good fit" for their firm.

It's not his job to say this.
Show us where, in statute or by tradition, it is prohibited for a Vice President of the United States to encourage private sector 'spanking' of those who speak-out for the political assassination of American citizens for speaking their minds.

Jesus-H-Tap-Dancing-Christ... you really have NO idea of just how deep you are down the Wrong Rabbit Hole on this one, do you?

I mean... it doesn't take more than a couple-of-dozen brain cells to figure that one out.,.. and yet you've missed it somehow... sheesh.

The problem with people like this is they're only interested in their own things.

They talk up freedom, but then want to ban gay marriage.

Now it just seems like they're going for full out control of the country, control to do as they want. They claim to like "civility" but there's nothing "civil" about what they're doing.

No one has said anything about banning gay marriage, why do you people always have to lie?

Do you ever ask yourself that?

He attacked the UK GOVERNMENT for prosecuting people for speech. At least try to be honst.

I won't get the image of his murder out of my memory for some time. It's like many horrific images. I still have many of the images of people jumping off of the WTC ingrained in my memory.

The world is full of sick people.

The response from one kid at the school immediately after the assassination and as everyone was running summed it up perfectly, "what the f***?"

He stated it like a question. It was the reaction some might express if they saw a ghost. One second he is speaking, the next he is just gone.

The right is trying to get people fired for just disagreeing. And since the authoritarian Trump administration is behind it, people are intimidated by the threat of government repercussions to comply.
So people that celebrate and cheer the death of another person are just disagreeing? Kirk lost his life because someone disagreed with him.
