Oh look, more anti-free speech from Vance.

It is human nature to pick a side. It takes logic and introspection not to.

On a forum like this, people more often then not always pick a side.
And that makes US politics VERY DANGEROUS.

The problem with people like this is they're only interested in their own things.

They talk up freedom, but then want to ban gay marriage.

Now it just seems like they're going for full out control of the country, control to do as they want. They claim to like "civility" but there's nothing "civil" about what they're doing.
So, gay marriage is legal in the U.S. seems nothing can make you loons happy.

PFFFFFT How many people lost their jobs because they said ALL LIVES MATTER??? Your selective outrage is sadly humorous.

Did the US vice president go out and tell people to fire those who said this?

I'm not attacking people for firing those who say something indecent.

I'm attacking a man who has gone around criticizing other countries for lack of freedom of speech, then actively gone out there to get people fired for this.

Do you see the difference?

This is the counter. It’s what we warned the left about when they started this.
And if people don't parrot Vance's authoritarian craven rant, then what?

Look like good ole boy J.D. is demanding that citizens rat on their neighbors, families etc. for the betterment of the "State".

He's an authoritarian pig just like his Dear Leader.

Proportional Representation.

More choice for voters
More oversight for voters
Political parties that actually stand for something
Harder to manipulate, gerrymandering is impossible.

"Report those who celebrate Charlie Kirk death to employers, Vance says"

Yep, Vance wants to stop people saying negative things about Charlie Kirk.

""Call them out, and hell, call their employer," Vance said as he guest-hosted an episode of the Charlie Kirk Show. "We don't believe in political violence, but we do believe in civility.""

Apparently they believe in "civility" which is news to me.

This from a guy who called out the UK on freedom of speech.

JD Vance calls out UK’s ‘modern dystopia’ amid ‘sad decline’ in freedom of speech

Essentially the right want to control speech if they don't like it, and make it free if they do. Kind of fascist to me.
Did he say the government should arrest those exercising their free speech?

Hmm... I would delve further but I don't wish to derail your thread.

The problem is that the right's version of "freedom of speech" when it comes to being racist, sexist etc, means no accoutability.

Vance attacked the UK

"“I believe that dismissing people, dismissing their concerns or worse yet, shutting down media, shutting down elections or shutting people out of the political process protects nothing. In fact, it is the most surefire way to destroy democracy,” he said."

This is what he says he "believes", now all of a sudden he "believes" the exact opposite.

This is hypocrisy and it's designed to get what the right want. They are for total freedom of speech when it comes to racism, and they're against it when it comes to people talking about the death of Charlie Kirk.
The UK is using government force. You dumb asses we’re just relaying your message and letting the rest take care of itself.

Did he say the government should arrest those exercising their free speech?

Nope. That's not the point.

The dude went to Munich and attacked other countries for their way of dealing with free speech, which is not unlimited.

His attitude when he attacked the UK was "you need to have freedom of speech like ours, where you can say anything you like".

In the UK people who went on social media and said "burn down this hotel with immigrants in it" were locked up. Vance has a problem with this. Thinks it goes against free speech.

It's about practicing what you preach. He's preaching one thing, and then practicing the opposite.

There's a thread, which didn't get very far, started in August by Dont Taz Me Bro about it. A lot of Americans aren't interested, some like OKTexas think the US already has Proportional Representation.

A subject for another time, then.

Those who were arrested in the UK and Germany were arrested by the government. Did Vance advocate arresting people for free speech?

Aren't you denying Vance's right to free speech?

Define "celebrating"... oh, it's very easy for them to say "this is celebrating" when it might just be "he got what he deserved because he said that gun deaths are 'worth it'"
Nobody is having their posts shared because of that. They were the ones cheering his death and wishing more death to his family or anyone that dares speak out against the left.

Liar.

Vance wants to hold the left to the EXACT same Standard they hold to the Right.

You can say what you want, but you'll pay a consequence for it.

Or does that only apply to conservative white people?

Even so, this wouldn't necessarily change the rhetoric.
