Only hours before the NBC Democratic primary debate, Sen. Bernie Sanders released his single-payer healthcare plan. The Sanders campaign named the plan ā€œMedicare for all,ā€ and the name is almost as deceptive as the plan itself.

Sanders promises that, if he were elected president, all Americans would have full health insurance without limits: no deductibles, no copays. Sanders claimed in the debate that his administration would pay for this program through tax reform (read: increase). Sanders claims that single-payer healthcare systems guarantee lower costs.

One of the most striking of Sandersā€™ arguments for the program is that all ā€œother industrialized nationsā€ have a similar program, so the United States should, too. But do all other ā€œindustrialized nationsā€ have the healthcare Sanders envisions? And is single-payer healthcare truly that much cheaper?

Do you know that the average monthly income in China is $952 in U.S. dollars? Not too good. But wait, in Cuba itā€™s only $25, which is a pretty big problem when a gallon of gas is almost $5.

These are socialist/communist countries. They promise people all kinds of free stuff, and they impose massive taxes to pay for it. It seems like it should be fairly basic to understand that this is not the sort of system that can lead to any kind of prosperity, but judging from the number of people willing to vote for Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, it is not obvious to enough people.

I get calls from people who have lived in countries that are or were socialist. Theyā€™re trying to warn us. Why donā€™t Americans understand what will happen if we go even further down the socialist road Obama has started us on? A lot of people think itā€™s interesting that the elderly Sanders has so many young supporters, but it makes perfect sense to me. Heā€™s supported by people who donā€™t remember life before the Berlin Wall came down and the Iron Curtain was no more. They donā€™t understand what socialism really is. They hear Bernie and Hillary talk about giving them free college, and forgiving their student loans, and it sounds great to them.

An article by Herman Cain, REALLY?

Herman Cain (born December 13, 1945)[4] is an American author, business executive, radio host, syndicated columnist, and Tea Party activist from Georgia.[5][6][7] He was a candidate for the 2012 U.S. Republican Party presidential nomination.[5]

poor dear penny looking for attention and atta boys.

Not hardly, I am trying to shed light on how the ACA , while needing some tweaking , is here to stay and has been a long time coming, so may as well sign on up. Also some Reps were talking about in in 1989 and the ACA closely resembles what one of them came up with.

Yep. ACA is just the kind of corporate welfare we get from Republicans. The fact that Democrats passed it proves they're no better.

but she's proud of that you see

I do wonder what the point of the claim is. Obviously, someone generating talking points thinks it's a good sell. You see it everywhere apologists are posting. But I'm curious how they think it will be perceived. Maybe it's just a "baffle 'em with bullshit" strategy.

Those who are allergic to facts are easily baffled. I wonder if there's a topical preparation for that, and whether you'd need a prescription?

I'm really not for Bernie's plan, I think we should all pay what we can, and a percentage of our income. I do think he can keep costs down on the marketplace and lower the deducts and OOP's amount. Those on low income go on Medicaid.

Interesting, but I'd imagine the amount of paperwork involved in determining how much who can pay when would be more costly (and doctors complain about paperwork now -!) than a straightforward single-payer system.

The billers are use to working with different health insurers, I do like to have a choice, but single payer is ok, I'm think the Gop would have a heart attack and never let it pass. I'd be ok with it , as the ACA isn't really helping us now, but if one has an accident or illness and can't work, it would be good to have help paying the premium.

 Possibly. On this board, it's mostly what the RW does when it doesn't get what it wants.

Years from now, people will read these threads and think "Migod, these people actually believed that insults and accusations of lying were a reasonable substitute for facts"!
