U.S. Senate REJECTS Republican-proposed solution for Obamacare 51-48

Because it was a cloture vote. All the Dems and 4 Republicans (a majority) voted to proceed to a vote on the Dem bill but 48 Republicans was enough to block it. The minority has considerable power in the Senate.
Which is great. That is the way it was meant to be.

OK, so it was filibustered by the Republicans. Why not just say it?

The Democrat's plan failed too.

Once again, BOTH parties attempted to pass a bill. BOTH failed.
  • The GOP attempted a new system that would get money out of government and insurance company's hands so people could get more out of every dollar for themselves.
  • The DEMS tried to just extend ACA a few more years, kick the can down the road and just save a failed system which has not ever worked as promised since its inception.
BOTH failed to get the need votes to pass.
