Obama, Holder predict conviction in 9/11 case

WASHINGTON – From opposite ends of the globe, President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder firmly rejected criticism Wednesday of the planned New York trial of the professed Sept. 11 mastermind and predicted Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would be exposed as a murderous coward, convicted and executed.

tried an convicted by both obama and holder before the trial even happens....

ok...what is the point of this.....

OK. The fellow is guilty. He had a big hand in the attack that killed 3000 Americans. In many nations, he would already be dead.

But, since we are a nation of laws, we will do the right thing, give him a trial, formally establish his guilt, then execute him.

Well, the point is law. But that won't deter you who hate President Obama.

By the way, have any of you noticed that we are knocking off an increasing number of Al Qaida leaders, no matter what nation they are taking refuge in?

so a mock trial ... so he can be a maytr and used to recruit more camel jockey suicde bombers not to mention putting the previous administration on trial....

gee it is so nice to have a smart president this time.....

ok..lets spend a bunch of money to try this guy. It'll probably go on for weeks, or months. Then we'll put him on death row for what...about 10 yrs? So our tax money will keep him alive then until they finally decide to put him out. If this ends up a quick trial, and the execution is within a couple months i won't complain. But that's not usually how it works.

But just to be on the safe side:

Holder: 'Failure Is Not an Option' in 9/11 Trial

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Even if one of the 9/11 suspects who'll be tried in New York is acquitted, that doesn't mean he'll be released in the United States.

That assurance comes today from Attorney General Eric Holder, who's been appearing before a Senate panel to defend the decision to bring Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (HAH'-leed shayk moh-HAH'-med) and four others to New York for trial. What assurance? We got a 'doesn't necessarily mean...' In any case, that's not what an acquittal is supposed to mean.

And to those who fear that a federal civilian trial will give Mohamed a chance to spout hateful rhetoric, Holder says not to worry.

He told the panel today that any words from the professed 9/11 planner in court will just make him look worse.
Sure nuff. Says it 'all'.

President Barack Obama is predicting that Mohammed will be convicted and executed.

They would have had a hard time before this. I think the nail is in the coffin, and belies the original stated intent of Obama/Holder by stopping the Military Tribunals.

They have in effect outed themselves and confirmed what many of us sumised from the start. Thanks for the thread.

The entire question is conferring rights reserved for Citizens of the United States per the Constitution. You do NOT confer such rights upon foreigners unless they have demonstrated their worthiness to BE citizens.

In other words they haven't earned it say as a naturalized citizen has. These are enemy combatants, period.

I don't believe the Feds keep people on death row for 10 years....how long did Timothy McVeigh wait? The Washington D.C. sniper?

It's the states that take forever...unless it's Texas. They'd forego the trial if it didn't look bad.

Excerpt:
Attorney General Eric Holder said he would put some 9-11 terrorists on trial.
Limbaugh called the decision a "disgusting travesty perpetuated here by Barack Obama." Over the next few minutes, Limbaugh said the decision to bring terrorists to trial was solely "to satisfy the rabid, radical, far left that hates this country; that hates George W. Bush; that hates the U.S. military." Limbaugh opposed the use of lawyers; several times he branded them as leftist and Marxist. Although he came from a family of lawyers, he disregarded Constitutional guarantees that require even the most heinous of criminals to be assured their rights, including the right to be represented by an attorney. While erroneously claiming that terrorists have no rights, Limbaugh also objected to providing the defendants "fairness," because in what he called the "new America," fairness is something created by "a bunch of radical leftists." He claimed that the defendants didn't even deserve lawyers because, in the world of Rush Fairytale Logic, the lawyers would use the courts to attack the United States. He attacked the federal judiciary, claiming, "There are a bunch of radical leftists on our federal bench," all of whom apparently, if you believed the Mouth That Roared, are governed by such mundane and useless rules like—well— the Constitution of the United States. What Limbaugh didn't say, possibly because the facts didn't agree with his own distorted version of reality, is that there are more conservative judges than liberal judges in the federal judiciary.

Quite amusing and deadly serious. More and video at site. Note that it's a 'conservative site  :

Video shows Sen. Obama thought a military tribunal was fine for Khalid Shaikh Mohammed
November 18, 2009 | 1:40 pm
As The Ticket reported earlier today in this space, Atty. Gen. Eric Holder was on the Senate Judiciary Committee hot seat defending his decision to bring the alleged 9/11 terrorist masterminds onto U.S. soil for civilian trials instead of keeping them far away in Guantanamo Bay for a military tribunal.

Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions, himself a former federal prosecutor, says he's amazed at Holder's simplicity claim and remains unconvinced that such a move, which could make New York City a target for potential new attack, makes any legal sense whatsoever.

Speaking of military tribunals, we went back into the video archives and found this C-SPAN tape below. Holder might want to watch it.

It contains his boss, Barack Obama, a brief member of that same Senate, in 2006 stating that a military tribunal was a perfectly fine way of handling such dangerous individuals as Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.

Obama said the fight against terrorism was "an extraordinarily difficult war" where terrorists could plot undetected from within our own borders.

The freshman Illinois senator was defending a legislative amendment and pointed out that a military tribunal for Mohammed seemed just fine to him.

"The irony of the underlying bill as it's written is that someone like Khalid Shaikh Mohammed is going to get basically a full military trial with all the bells and whistles. He's gonna have counsel. He's gonna be able to present evidence to rebut the government's case.... I think we will convict him. And I think justice will be carried out."...

Funny!..... good ole Rushbo beat his drug charges with his lawyers.

it's like one of the Senators asked in the hearing today, If you catch Osama bin Laden you gonna read him his miranda rights?" old eric he stuttered around a bit and said "well that depends" end of bullshit story!

I listened closely and heard that the reason for this circus was so that the rest of the world could see how American justice works.

But didn't AG Holder defeat the purpose by saying that is he were found not guilty, well, we'll keep him locked up anyway...???

"He’s telling you right there, flat out, that some guys aren’t going free no matter what it might mean for due process. (He qualified it by saying he wants a “framework” of “oversight” in such cases, but the point remains: It’s constitutionally unprecedented.) In which case, once again: Why even prosecute KSM?"

That is a damnable lie!

I don't hate the President, nor do I wish him ill. He should serve out his term in good, no excellent health!

Here's why:

Succession:
1. VP (Biden) 2.Speaker of the House (Pelosi) 3.President Pro-Tempore of the Senate (Byrd) 4. Secy of State (Clinton) 5. Secy of Treasury (Geithner) 6. Secy of Defense (Gates) 7. AG (Holder) 8. Secy of Interior (Salazar) 9. Secy of Agriculture (Vilsack) 10. Secy of Commerce (Locke) 11. Secy of Labor (Solis)

Doesn't it bother anyone that these scumbags will be given the same rights as an American citizen?
Doesn't it bother anyone that these same scumbags will be tried in the shadow of the greatest terrorist accomplishment and they will sit in the court room with the world watching
while they sit there with a smile on their face.

Why are we treating these terrorists like common criminals?
Every day this administration amazes me and I don't mean that in a good way.:(
