Are you fucking serious?

Soccer is one of the most retarded spectator sports ever. Its dumber than baseball which is paying to see overpaid prima donas stand around and scratch thier nuts...maybe you find that fascinating..I do not.

Yet you are the first person to respond to this thread. Go figure.

Well this is the time of the day I have to vent on the internet. I sit around in a vacant restaurant havin breakfast. And I do hate soccer. Paul Allen and some sit com celebrety put a team together in seattle which I am very angry about. I watched it a couple of times on the tube which just reinforced my distain for this pussy game.

This is the best goal ever.

I had tickets to this match but delayed my trip to Mexico 86 to go to my prom because a pretty girl battered her eyelashes at me.

That was a great goal and it broke my heart, particularly given Maradona's earlier 'Hand of God' goal.

The other goal commonly viewed as resulting from the best piece of individual skill was Bergkamp's in the 1998 World Cup.

But this is almost always voted as the best goal of all time.

Of course, I have a soft spot for this one...

I particularly like the steward who looks round for someone to hug and finds the nearest guy happens to be Rafa!

And just for shits and giggles, this is the most famous goal (and piece of commentary: They think it's all over - it is now...) in English football history...

This one is a beauty too.

It's a shame what's happened to him. Maybe Wigan will pick him up next year. That's what happens when you leave Liverpool for greener pastures elsewhere!

I was just about to post the same goal Luissa, but you beat me to it, so got to agree with your selection.

I was at that game!

August 96 at Wimbledon. My brother (United fan, uugh) was a mate of Sam Hammam and he invited me to the game where I watched it from the directors box sitting directly behind Bobby Charlton.

First game my wife had ever seen. And despite it being United it was still a great goal.

I met Bechham in the tunnel from the dressing rooms to the parking lot after the game. I said "That was the most amazing goal I've ever seen." And the spotty youth looked up and said in this ridiculous squeaky voice "Yeah, cheers, thanks very much".

The United fans spent the entire game singing their "Cheer up Kevin Keegan" song. ROFL.

How old was he? Like nineteen or something?
I watched something about him the other day, he started training with Manchester at fourteen or something.

He was 20 years old, I believe.

Xabi Alonso has done that not once but twice.

Most players in England sign what's known as 'school boy' forms with clubs while still in their early teens. If they are good enough, they'll be in the first team by their late teens at which time they'll sign a full pro contract.

Michael Owen, for example, signed pro for Liverpool pretty much on his 17th birthday, but had been a Liverpool 'school boy' since 13. He was playing regularly for Liverpool within six months of signing pro and made his England debut age 18, the youngest player ever to do so.

By contrast, Becks made his Man U debut at either 17 or 18, but didn't become a regular until he was 19.

Despite the glamour and riches, young pro footballers in England can expect the press to build them up and knock them down with astonishing speed. Beckham was only 21 I believe when a moment's stupidity against Argentina led to him becoming the most reviled man in Britain. I hate Man U, but the way he was treated was a national disgrace.
