No more pennies will be minted

This makes sense, we should have stopped minting pennies 20 years ago.
Hmm; I guess prices everywhere will have to change. Everything will have to in in increments of 5 cents

Looks to me like more movement to a cashless society. Another bad idea.
Are you a neo nazi or a leftist?

The reason I ask is that the hyper-inflation during the Weimar era helped propel the Nazis to power

Do you thunk this will make the penny collectable?

I got a bucket of 'em
it will make it one more step towards a digital currency,,

if the government controls the currency they will control it all

Well there goes those $1.98 or whatever .98 cent prices all over the country. Now instead of paying $19.98 for something, we pay $20. Or maybe if the proprietor wants to continue to 'fool' us that we're paying under $20, he'll drop the price to $19.95. That does look cheaper than $20 I guess.

But then think of the plot of "Office Space". A fraction of a penny over time in a big business can total many thousands of dollars. Those extra pennies spent by 300 million citizens might not be so insignificant?

It's time.

When benjamin franklin wrote "A penny saved is a penny earned"...The penny was worth around $2 in todays money.

A penny would get you a loaf of bread!

Funny I was just talking to my step daughter about how the costs have gone up.
I remember when a fresh loaf of Italian bread cost 10 cents in Brooklyn.
A 32 ounce bottle of Schneider's soda was 15 cents and you got 5 cent back if you brought the empty bottle back. That was in the late 1940's.
