No due process for illegals???

Due process focuses on the procedures the government must follow before taking action that affects someone's life, liberty, or property. It requires adequate notice, an opportunity to be heard, and a fair and impartial tribunal. Further details on the immigration hearings are specified in immigration law. However, details are not really important since under Trump the process is pick'em up and hold'em for a deportation order signing.
Dude, where's Fort Fun Indiana and Sherlock Holmes?

I know some. And they're generally pretty hapless people to begin with. Often with mental health issues. Some might not even know what's going on before they're on a plane to Ecuador.

But let's cut to chase. MAGA people like the idea of ICE agents sweeping neighborhoods getting rid of the brown people. It's the kind of police state they voted for.

The rest of us are sickened by it.
If you were a migrant day laborer who had been in the country for five years, working long hours in the fields, married, with a home, children, a pregnant wife, and a lost green card, you might feel a constant weight of fear. Afraid to go to work but knowing you have to feed your family, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone in your shoes appeared to have mental problems.

I'm not offended. It's not personal. Just sad to see. The America I love is better than that.
You mean it was better than that before a charlatan in a red hat convinced millions that he would make this dreadful country great again.

Lost green card is traceable.

True, but if you are locked in a detention center with no access to phone or computer, getting a replacement before you are deported is very unlikely.

And you certainly can't expect to get any help from ICE. According to the current border czar, "The migrant is responsible for proving he is legally in US. My agents are spread to thin to go looking for visas and immigration documents."

I am well aware of what it normally requires. But JUST AS you don’t get to challenge hearsay at a suppression hearing n a criminal case, SO TO an illegal alien is entitled simply to a hearing in a removal proceeding. However, NOT ALL of the bells, whistles and frills we associate with “due process” in a criminal trial exist in a removal proceeding.

So save your lectures until you understand the realities of the topic. Clearly, you don’t yet.

Seeing that carrying a green card is a requirement, replacing a lost one IMMEDIATELY would be a priority.

The point is there is no hearing other than to sign a deportation order and informing the detainees of where they are going. There is no opportunity to ask for time to obtain a birth certificate proving citizenship or papers showing you are legally in the country, or a court order barring deportation until another issue is settled, and no chance to plea for for asylum.

I would call it a kangaroo court except that there is not court. As I said, it's a pick'em up, hold'em, and deport'em.

After Trump is dead and gone, we are going to be dealing with cases of legal immigrants and American citizens that have been deported.

To replace a green card you must file USCIS Form I-90. If you do not have a Social Security number which is half of green card holders, you must file an SS-5 to get a social security number. If your green card does not have a picture on it or it has changed you will need to get a passport picture for the green card. All of of this of course is being done from an ICE detention center. Given the short period between ICE detentions and deportation, you will be pleading your case at a US embassy which of course is a total waste of time because once you have been deported you are barred from re-entering the US.

The assumption is that once you have been deported, your case and all pleas have been heard. All relevant documentation has been examined leading the court to rule that you will be deported. Of course that assumption today is completely false.

If this country is "dreadful" and unlikely to improve, what the hell are you doing here?

Too much family to go anywhere else

Then I guess they don't deserve to live, because this ain't their home, and if they had stayed in their own country working half as hard to better that place as they did to come here and sponge off of us, then they would have a place worth living in.

I can help with a $1000 flight.............

Nah... we're not going anywhere. The fascists always lose in the end. The only question is how much muck they'll drag us through in the process.
