It's difficult to generate any sympathy for the owners or players in the NFL. On the whole, they are just self-aggrandizing rich people.

But there are thousands of people who make their livings off the peripheral stuff, and they are in the same boat as restaurant workers, etc.

In one way or another there will always be Americans who are willing to shell out a lot of money to watch football, and there will be entrepreneurs who will exploit that.
