I formally lived in an area of New England that had muslims mixed in with the population.

I personally knew muslims who were school teachers, police officers, restaurant owners, an FBI agent, Homeland security agent, realtors, U.S. military soldiers, doctors, dentists, nurses, car mechanics, lawyers, and cab drivers.

Just average people buying homes, paying taxes, raising kids, and leading normal lives. ...

You may have even had Jews in your neighborhood ... I hope that's not why you moved.

I lived and worked for 10 years in the Boston area which has something like 4 times the national average of Jews in the local population. (visit Brookline, Newton, Lexington, Needham, there're almost all jewish) In fact the owner of the company I worked for was Jewish, we got along just fine. I only left NE when I got tired of the brutal winters and all that freakin snow. I'm a southern guy and like year around warm weather. ....

Not sure this is the place to put this but my current customer is originally from Iran. He is a super nice guy and has told me some stories about the switch from a somewhat secular rule to the religious fanatics that now control the country. He came here for school but after the switch he never returned and became a citizen. He has gone back to visit family but says he feels terribly sorry for them.

So no, not all muslims are the same and judging people based on religious or political affiliations alone is a mistake.

So Red China, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were religious meccas! There may be people of faith, but they are under the iron fist of their governments also.
