New poll shows strong anti-Arab sentiment among Israeli Jews

There tends to be an awful lot of ethical gymnastics that go on from the Palestinian side to try to justify targeting civilians, from blaming the parents for being there when a child is killed to conflating civilians with the military. It does not wash regardless of which side does it and tries to justify it.

I can understand civilian deaths as collateral damage...but when the numbers start to climb, when a civilian or civilian facility is targeted and killed, then it is reasonable to question whether the use of force is proportionate, why the civilian was targeted and hold those responsible accountable.

OK, I'm at a loss.

C&IHL: Rule 2. Acts or threats of violence the primary purpose of which is to spread terror among the civilian population are prohibited.
Israel does that all the time. Never a peep out of you.

Give me an example.

Fatalities since Operation Cast Lead | B'Tselem

The bias in the poll’s findings is not related to violence, which you would see if you read the article and the poll questions. It is reflective of a general distrust/ dislike of minority populations, and it correlates with religiousity. It is also similar to the attitudes the attitudes CNN found among antisemitism in Europe.
So drill down and the purpose of the article is religion bashing. "The more secular the more tolerant". Isreal has effectively been at war with arabs since 1948 one would expect a certain amount of animosity toward the enemy in a 70 year war. What an epiphany Israelis don't like or trust the people who have been trying to kill them all for the past 70 years. Hatred of the enemy has little to do with whether one is religious or not. Survival does though.

First, let me say, that I follow your logic and line of thought. But I would respectfully offer an alternative view.

I'm not sure that we have seen that yet (it shows Jews have the same human bigotries) in the evidence considered. But Israel has its share of bigots because it is more human than not.

New poll shows Jews opened their eyes and said enough!!!
Or it shows Jews have the same human bigotries as anyone else :dunno:

The observation you make (human bigotries as anyone else) may be nearly valid. BUT, as I have said before, they are just as human as any of its neighbor. The difference is that, and this is recognized even by the UN, Israel is much more developed.

EXCERPTS FROM The 2018 Report • Human Development Report Office (HDRO) said:
The HDI was created to emphasize that people and their capabilities should be the ultimate criteria for assessing the development of a country, not economic growth alone. The HDI can also be used to question national policy choices, asking how two countries with the same level of GNI per capita can end up with different human development outcomes. These contrasts can stimulate debate about government policy priorities. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, being knowledgeable and have a decent standard of living. The HDI is the geometric mean of normalized indices for each of the three dimensions.

The health dimension is assessed by life expectancy at birth, the education dimension is measured by mean of years of schooling for adults aged 25 years and more and expected years of schooling for children of school entering age. The standard of living dimension is measured by gross national income per capita. The HDI uses the logarithm of income, to reflect the diminishing importance of income with increasing GNI. The scores for the three HDI dimension indices are then aggregated into a composite index using geometric mean. Refer to Technical notes for more details.

The HDI simplifies and captures only part of what human development entails. It does not reflect on inequalities, poverty, human security, empowerment, etc. The HDRO offers the other composite indices as broader proxy on some of the key issues of human development, inequality, gender disparity and poverty.

When it is said that Israel has the same flaws as every other nation, that is probably true, but not helpful. There is a magnitude to both achievements and flaws. America is flawed. It is NOT the best nation. But the magnitude of those flaws that Israel has is considerable difference (both quantifiable and qualitatively) from all but ≈ 22 out of the 189 nations, regions, or territories in the world.

Yes, in every nation in the world, flaws. Norway is at the top of the HDI.

In 2012, the well-known Norwegian author Hanne Nabintu Herland called Norway the “most anti-Semitic country.” The recent surprise victory of Prime Minister Erna Solberg, the Conservative leader, could alter this dynamic for the better.

Why are trivial matters like this important? (Rhetorical) Because, when a majority of the G-8 Industrialized Nations (The eight countries making up the G8 were the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Russia.) consider HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement) to be a terrorist organization, that actually means something. It doesn't mean that everyone else is perfect. It means that the many are less imperfect. Must of the dramatization of the conflict is games set pieces in politics. If it was not for the fact that a majority of the energy supply comes from the Middle East and the Gulf States -- and another Islamic State (which provides funding for HAMAS and Hezbollah) threats the access to a vital avenue to that energy.

I see what you are saying...I think. You refer to the actions of states, I tend to look at the actions of people, and maybe jump back and forth Too much. I see your point in what I bolded. And I do have a big concern with the rise of extreme right populism in developed countries with it’s associated rise in antisemitism, antimuslim, and anti immigrant rhetoric and the visible rise in violence towards these minority groups. We should be very very worried at this trend and I don’t blame Israel for being concerned. Frankly, though I dislike her, I agree with Shaylet (sp?)that Israel should just annex Area C, offer choice of citizenship or permanent residency to all living there and be done with it. It should then invest in the future of it’s Arab citizens to the same degree as its Jewish ones and discourage ethnic divides or classes. All should feel an ownership in the state and feel welcomed and part of its future. Annexation will end the uncertainty and they can move on to working with the Arab States on a future for the other areas.

It takes a lot of nerve to accuse others of supporting mass murder when one is hopelessly enamored with a vile, disgusting racial dictatorship that, between 1948 and 1951 alone, murdered more than 3000 peaceful palestinian peasants for the "crime" of trying to return home to tend their crops.

Exactly and Coyote has continuously stated that Jews don’t need a homeland of their own because not every religion/culture has one while ignoring that there are 53+ mostly Muslim countries where Jews are most NOT welcome. Meanwhile Muslims are welcome in Israel and have a better life there, especially the women than in any mostly Muslim country. I am guessing Coyote is either Muslim or a Leftist.
