But the death penalty much like any punishment or accountability for crimes is becoming less and less.

Punish criminals, kill the ones that deserve it, allow people to make up their own minds and live their own lives without government interference, and preach "obey the law and mind your own business" and this country would be much better off. If we did those things BLM may not even exist.

The death penalty is not a joke. If we allowed government to execute everyone it accuses of treason 75 million Trump voters might be getting stuffed in rail cars. If we didn't have 300 million guns and a billion rounds of ammo it might be happening already.

Nothing pointless about it. Seeing these people slow tortured would be a great deterrent to others thinking of misusing their government position. And it would deter people from even getting into government whose intentions were not wholly honest. And you can't be too cruel to people who abuse theor position of highest trust by the citizenry as suckers to merely line their own pockets instead.
