Columbus came to the western hemisphere by accident.
He didn't come to spread small-pox to the natives.
People didn't understand viruses back then.
However Columbus did commit atrocities such as enslaving natives.
But let's be honest.
The hatred for Columbus is not about Columbus.
It is about the Left using him as a surrogate for hating the eeeviiiiillll white oppressors.
It's political.
It's like hating the present day's generation of Japanese and Germans for WWll.
It's just stupid hate.

It might be argued that it's stupid to give credit to someone for something they never did.

This is about usurping the culture in order to implement Marxism more effectively.
Columbus Day protesters are mostly ignorant Marxist dupes, i.e., democrats.

Columbus came to the western hemisphere by accident.
It was no accident. He sailed West because he was sure the earth was round and that he would discover an all sea route to the rich spice trade out of India. He didn't know how big the earth was nor did he know about the two continents in his way to India. It was all about profit.

The hatred for Columbus is not about Columbus.

Can't disagree with that.

The natives were all stupid regarding small pox

None of them wore a mask nor did they take any vaccines

As Jimmy Kimmel would say, they all deserved to die.

He didn't know how big the earth was
Pythagorus first thought the Earth was round in 5th century BC and Aristotle confirmed it in 3rd century BC. Also in the 3rd century BC Eratosthenes of Egypt accurately estimated the size of Earth using the curvature of the Earth to actually make his calculations. And the Egyptians also knew the Earth was round. Columbus also knew the Earth was round, but was off by about 25% regarding the circumference. That's because what he read was based on the longer Arabic "mile" rather than the shorter Roman "mile". So Columbus actually knew how large the Earth was, he just screwed up on the conversion.

In the 21st century AD, there are some people who revert to knowledge before 6th century BC and claim the Earth is flat. There are also crazy people that claim there is a pedophile ring run out of the basement of a pizza parlor that has no basement.
