Name a sport or a team you did not follow or care for but you watched just to see that one player?

If it involved the Toronto Maple Leafs I cheered against them. If it involved the Montreal Canadians I only cheered for them when they played the Maple Leafs. I never watched games to see one player play.

Deion Sanders as a DB or a WR. If he got the ball, he might take it to the house hi-stepping, taunting. I hated but liked it.

Howard Cosell. Woke before woke existed or something off with him. But sports is sports. Beer, vodka and sports after work, bottoms up. Hated but enjoyed his lame arse.

ALL of my following of professional sports these days is mildly pursuing an interest in the performance of a few individual players. I only care about their teams to the extent that those players impact the team's success.

Trout, Judge, Harper, and Ohtani, in baseball. Wemby, Jokic, Doncic, and TJMcConnell in basketball. Sinner in tennis. Scheffler, Rahm, DeChambeau, and Mickleson in golf.

That's it.

I blow through the Sports Section in about 90 seconds on most days.

In his prime with the Cowboys and the Falcons, Deion was a must watch player.

Don't like the Dodgers at all but I'll watch Ohtani especially if he's pitching.
My answer too.
I can't stand the Dodgers but I'll tune them in because of Ohtani. He's a once-in-a-lifetime talent and fascinating to watch.
