How many here feel this way about these two sports?

OK, except for squirrel hunting, women's beach volleyball is the best. Jed Clampett was the best!

To play - baseball was the clear favorite, not just me, the whole neighborhood.
We also played football and basketball, but not like baseball.

To watch - #1 was college basketball, followed closely by the NFL, then baseball before it was ruined.

TODAY - none of the above. College basketball became "mini-NBA" - all about individuals showing off with no loyalty to anything. NFL I turned against during the retarded "Kneel with head down during the anthem" - **** them. Go move somewhere else.

I played the four major playground sports as a kid: baseball, basketball, football, and hockey.

Baseball is my number one, both as spectator and playing.

I played basketball in school and the driveway.

We played hockey in the churchyard, street, or even this frozen pond we had.

But there is still nothing like baseball in my book. No sport really compares in Americana.

Growing up the two sports i loved and had a passion for playing were football and baseball.as a result,I always watched the superbowl and the world series.Basketball i totally hated that sport and never watched the NBA championship or college basketball.I cant even name who won the NBA championship or the final four in college basketball last year thats how much attention i pay to the NBA or college basketball.

was wondering if there are any others here who also loved playing football and baseball but hate the sport of basketball? even if you disagree and love all 3 go ahead and post. I will never fathom why people get excited about a game where all you do is try and put a ball in a hoop more times than the other team.:icon_rolleyes:
I played all three but ya I like playing basketball but don't care to veiw it.

Don’t the vast majority sports (the ones that make the most money) ultimately boil down to putting some sort of ball through some sort of apparatus more times than the other team ?
REREAD post# 6 of mine,,it CLEARLY explains WHY basketball is such a stupid sport and why baseball and football are NOT.
:abgg2q.jpg:
Paleman ALSO in post# 4 did an excellent job of spelling it out for you but then again you believe in magic bullets so i can see WHY it would not register with YOU?:auiqs.jpg:

I played all 3 sports, enjoyed all of them. As for watching, definitely NFL since my son got me into fantasy football and MLB. Basketball I like March Madness and the NBA playoffs but not much regular season.

Dont you agree WATCHING baseball and basketball on tv is boring as hell like watching paint dry? going LIVE to a professional baseball game and being at the ballpark especially like a cubs game at wrigley field or seeing the green monster at boston for a red sox game, being at the BALLPARK "MUCH" different story, apples and oranges,a total blast but on tv? on tv when the team you are rooting for is batting its okay and not too bad but when the OPPONENT bats? unless its another team you LOVE,its almost impossible to not fall asleep on tv same as with basketball. you nailed it.

Enjoying basketball as you did i get that enjoying march madness and the NBA playoffs same with me and baseball. ALWAYS had a blast watching the MLB playoffs and world series back in the 70's and 80's when the game was not corrupt as it is now where only the big market teams are going to go to the world series but back then yeah the playoffs and world series i always got excited about and like you are with basketball during the regular season, did not care for it. baseball and basketball its impossible to get excited to watch THEM during the regular season. every basketball fan i talk to says the same thing you do about the regular season.

rover says its chilly when you say spectator for baseball do you mean watching it LIVE? cause i agree watching baseball LIVE as a specatator there is nothing like it in the book as far as being enjoyable.Football my other passion is completely opposite than baseball, unlike baseball its actually better on tv i think cause you see so many stuff that happens you DONT see LIVE at the game so i think watching it on tv is actually MORE pleasurable, the game goes longer and not as fast because of commercials of course but still worth the while.

I pretty much agree with you that there is nothing like baseball as both playing the sport and as a spectator. there is nothing like going to a professional Baseball BALLPARK and taking in the atmosphere and the surroundings and looking at the ballpark where who gives a shit about an NFL stadium? **** that. and football it was always fun playing defense going out there tackling somebody, that was always the big moment for me but you never had the chance to shine in football as you do with baseball. with Baseball EVERYBODY has that chance to shine when they come up to the plate and bat,the thrill of the moment so thats why baseball was always my number one passion over football.

Yes, there are many things you can catch on a TV baseball game that you don't see at the park. But it also works the other way.

I like to see a good pitcher's battle on TV. A game where you see the location of every pitch. I like a lot of runs while at the game. Part of that is because you are often with someone who does not get the game. They don't understand that there is something going on with every pitch. If a run is not being scored, they get bored.

Love baseball, but often disappointed as a Reds fan. Still glad that Cincinnati is 5-4 all-time in World Series play. Reds also have an all-time winning record from 1903, and even much bigger if you go back to 1869 (when they started as pro).

rover says its chilly yes that is true that there are things you can catch on tv on a baseball game that you cant catch live that you dont see at the park same as football but its just mainly the pitcher pitching but see that is WHY i HATE watching baseball on tv, watching it on tv to me is like watching paint dry at least when it is the other team batting and not your team, when it is YOUR team batting its not so bad but when the other team comes up to bat,its almost impossible not to fall asleep. watching the pitcher pitch is boring as hell to me cause the pitches are going in slow motion they look like they are taking forever to get to the plate where LIVE at the ballpark, its VERY FAST.the ball doesnt get to the plate in slow motion.

plus at the ballpark LIVE,taking in the atmosphere and the aroma of the ballpark, there is NOTHING like that in pro football, pro football you dont give a shit about the stadium at all and its always a BLAST watching a foul ball go into the stands, you dont get that at a football game. so the passion of watching a baseball game LIVE vs a football game, there is no comparison, football cant compete with the enjoyment of watching it LIVE.

as i said though when it comes to watching baseball on TV,total opposite story,i will take football EVERY SINGLE TIME obviously, its still exciting and fun to watch even on tv where on tv for baseball its EXCRUCIATING. baseball is also the only sport where you get a realistic chance to get a souvenier with the foul balls always going into the stands.

i will NEVER fathom HOW the Reds could possibly have done the most stupid thing in their life, letting pete rose go,the owner of the reds and general manager have to be hated by Reds fans like yourself still today.

The big red machine was involved in tow of the greatest world series ever, the 75 red sox series and the 72 oakland as series.

Baseball was my first love...New goofy rules and wokeism fucked it up.

Football was #2...Wokeism destroyed my enjoyment...Don't even bother with the Soup Bowl anymore.

NHL is all that's left to me....Though a few have tried to **** it up, it remains 99% shitlib free.
I'm glad politics ruined sports for you.

i bet you couldnt put that ball in a hoop in competition 10% of the time...
Baseball is boring. Too many innings no score. It's like soccer. I have always said they need to make the soccer net bigger so they score more. Maybe only 3 infielders and 2 outfielders in baseball would mean more hits. No shortstop or centerfielder.

Football is the best

Basketball is only good in the playoffs.

The first sport (ever) is the best sport.

I played HS football (TE) and HS baseball (CF) and played basketball for fun, not for school. Basketball is way more fun to play with your friends. You cant really play football or baseball for fun unorganized. Certainly cant show up at a field and do a pickup game of those two.

As far as watching i prefer college sports. Pro sports is like watching people work. My opinion.

And the FLORIDA GATORS won the NCAA championship last year in spectacular fashion.

The March Madness is really fun. I am primarily college football fan, but I do love cheering for the 16 seed to beat the 1 seed in the March Madness. NBA regular season games have seemed "stale" for years. The playoffs are interesting, they try hard in those games.

The politically correct narratives they stuff in sports need to go. NFL is the worst.

Baseball in HS, loved the sport. Football tried out but in baby bummer HS, tough to get accepted. Played lots of basketball during military service. Easy pick up game opposed to prior two. Also ran cross country in HS and later in life did many bicycle centuries and a few doubles. Doubles were the real challenge. Stay active people it helps.
