ALL of my following of professional sports these days is mildly pursuing an interest in the performance of a few individual players. I only care about their teams to the extent that those players impact the team's success.

Trout, Judge, Harper, and Ohtani, in baseball. Wemby, Jokic, Doncic, and TJMcConnell in basketball. Sinner in tennis. Scheffler, Rahm, DeChambeau, and Mickleson in golf.

That's it.

I can't stand the Dodgers but I'll tune them in because of Ohtani. He's a once-in-a-lifetime talent and fascinating to watch.

There are players who are worth the price of a ticket if they are at the top of their game. And there are quite a few. Michael Vick and Randall Cunningham are two. Over a half century ago once in a while soccer would be on TV usually national teams and Pele was player most talked about by the then sports pundits.

I remember the Sports Section of the newspaper back when I used to read it. I got tired of reading stories that I read on the internet two days prior, so I canceled my subscription.
