My favorite conservative (and you won't like what he has to say)

I don't have to look it up as I was starting to drive back then...odd and even plate number rationing was the order of the day, but it was called an arab oil boycott/shortage not "a break"
If I remember right, it was only a 5% drop in supply. That's all it took.

Again, it' s supply and demand...

Were you trying to claim oil is not a commodity??

for what reason?
"The oil is being sold on an exchange basis, to be returned at a later date. A Strategic Petroleum Reserve oil exchange is a legal mechanism utilized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to address supply shortages, such as during severe weather events or pipeline disruptions. Under this mechanism, the government loans oil from the emergency stockpile to refiners or traders, who are then required to return the same quantity of crude oil plus a premium."

Europe Emerges As Key Buyer Of U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve Oil

Yes.

"European economies are roughly 25% to 30% more energy-efficient than the USA when measured by energy intensity (the amount of energy used to produce one unit of economic output). A significant portion of this difference stems from lifestyle and cultural variations, such as mass transit, car size, and housing."
Google AI
TRANSLATION: "Europeans have to use less electricity as they pay much higher energy costs/taxes [we'll call it tax intensity] due to their socialized lifestyles...

If we lived close to Putin, we would also be in trouble.
interesting/telling that you left out your reason for this...do you have one?

the point is that the so called "more efficient" europeans need oil and we, the "less efficient" have an excess of it...
why do they need our oil? I am asking you why they need the oil and you are explaining how they are purchasing it...why?

So what?

You know why they need oil. If you read my post, you also know why.

Your horse died, beating it won't help.

explains their want for "renewables" a lot better than 'climate change' does...but you only addressed the American reason for it, why does euorpe want it? why don't they just use the renewables they have?...oil/fossil fuel cannot be replaced by renewables without dire consequences.
Are you gaslighting, or do you actually know close nothing?

It’s another sky is falling video, prices are down about $.70 a gallon from a month ago, I think people love doom and gloom and yet we survive.

One of the basic functions of government is mitigating risk.

That's whats going on here. The DOE is sending oil to Europe to mitigate the risk of economic collapse.

Armed with this knowledge, the government or anyone here, can act to mitigate risk. Last week, I locked down the price of home heating oil, for example.

I know what governments role is. We are not in the dire straits that the you tube talking head says we are in. We definitely aren’t anywhere the situation that we were in in WWII. Zeihan’s reputation is he is an independent and alarmist and doesn’t have a good track record of his predictions coming true.

You can choose to believe, I am not choosing that route.

You know the war in Ukraine? He predicted it 10 years before it happened.

He's got a good track record. His former job was getting ahead of the curve, so it didn't punch us in the face when it happened.

Meaning it's about mitigating risk, it's about being ready when the poop hits the fan..

One of the things that is just amazing is how the Right has little to no concept of governance.

Many predicted the Ukraine war but most info I have read is he is wrong way more than he is ever right, I tend not to listen to alarmist. I am not big on alarmist and it has nothing to do with politics and wonder why it is even brought up. The guy is an independent and alarmist.

"Only" 5% and yet you call it "a massive break"
Again, it' s supply and demand...
and as I am the only one in this conversation who understands what that means for europeans you can stop pretending you are the one who understands 'supply and demand'
Were you trying to claim oil is not a commodity??
can you quote what it is you are pretending I may have meant by that?

Actual conservatives have been shown the door, by the radicals.

Back when there was some sanity, we liked to anticipate trouble, when we could.

You guys have no idea that this is about governing the country.

Who are you guys? Thought this thread was about an independent declaring doom and gloom that won’t happen, now you switch it up? Why is that?
