Christians tend to be very conservative and do not fall prey to the idea that a 'squeaky clean politician' with bad views should be elected over someone with problems of sin, but who stands stronger on core Christian values. Cornyn's conservative scorecard was well below what it should have been if he wanted to get elected in Texas.
